Who leaves?

My favorite thing about the off-season is guessing the 2 deep next year. Way to early for that, but who do we lose to portal or NFL?

Cam and AA are important ones, pending your view on AM, which I don't believe is determined yet.

I'm most excited to see Nash on D and Alante Brown on O.

Damion Daniels will go pro. D Thomas will move on. Nadab Joseph and the Ohio St transfer won’t be back. And a couple of guys who played meaningful minutes will also leave just to find a chance to win. On offense, it will be a bloodbath. O-Lineman will not be available in the portal, so losing any of the 2 deep will really hurt. Hi son and Bando gone. Corcoran and Benhart gone. Ramir Johnson may be the only guy to return at RB. Betts despite being a Neb native is even at risk of leaving. Nixon gone. Maybe A Brown as well. Frost needs the new coaches now and needs them to recruit current players, because he has lost this team after this latest debacle. Recruiting will be well outside of the Top 80.

Frost is no CEO type. He presently has no confidence, hence his team follows.

I normally love your posts Obert1..........BUT.....I'd venture to guess that starting THIS thread topic HOURS after the gut-wrenching end of our Iowa game is just a taaaaaad bit too soon. Don't worry, I'm just venting. It's a good topic that will eventually get rolling.

I hear ya, honestly it's sort of my way to get excited about next year. Im a spoiled 90s fan . Personally, I think we have some very good players returning. Problem is, in today's world I'm not sure if they'll be here or elsewhere. But, I hear ya man. I think I just need to move on from today's game, I was convinced we had this one finally.

This thread will be the most angst ridden of the next month. The good Dr. can't handle it yet, but he'll come around. I hope it all happens quickly and doesn't drag on leaving us to die the death of a thousand cuts. If it's as bad as Idaho thinks, I'd call it catastrophic. Players in the portal considering a new place will give Nebraska the side eye unless they have a non-ability flaw that makes them a toxic player.
A massive rush to the portal and NFL may damn HCSF before he can do anything. Next season starts with the exodus.
What if AM and Smothers both leave? Arrgh!

You do realize how insane this sounds, right? Only 1 running back stays? Both starting tackles leave? A guy that transferred in and would have to sit a year is going to transfer out? This is all utter nonsense.

NT Daniels and DT Thomas have announced they will not return.

keep in mind they have both been here for 5 years. That is enough time to get a degree, maybe next spring is needed, have not heard either way. They have endured a lot including 5 straight loosing seasons. Daniels will get drafted IMHO, as good Nose tackles are hard to come by. Thomas won’t get drafted even if he returns for another year.

As for the comment Ramir “MAY” be the only RB returning, I am pretty sure an injured RB like Gabe Ervin. Yant? Gains weight in the summer, does not know the playbook well enough and for home during bye week. He made one big run, So why all the bold predictions. Morrison is already in the portal. How about Scott. He didn’t look that bad to me, but he was 6th string. Who will be surprised if he enters the portal? And what about Stepp? He had high expectations, contributed very little. And who thinks he is happy in Lincoln knowing the experience edge he had is gone. Logic says Ramir and Gabe could be the 1-2 next year.

Where are folks hearing about specific players that are leaving? I haven’t seen articles about anyone with eligibility remaining announcing since Sevion hit the portal.

Stepp won't transfer because he would lose a season.

The roster on offense will depend on the OC and assistants - I think we will loose some skill guys but others below 2 deep also could see a few transfers. QB is a big ? - but hopefully the OC brings some of "his guys" in.

Defensively - I don't expect huge turnover but graduation and Daniels going pro is going to leave some big holes to fill.

We need to figure out how to get better in all aspects of special teams - in the past that meant playing some starters to cover returns - especially from the secondary so we need the depth there to allow that to happen.

Daniels being out was a blessing in some ways. His backup is probably better off the ball with room to improve.

We need better depth buiding. Use it to build some damn discipline at positions. Frost has severe discipline issues partly as a result of never playing in depth. He could also improve feedback during game lulls. He passes up fixing problems that come back to bite us. Chin could do better at that, too, because it's really team wide. Can't leave everything to the film room.

What I do want is every player that steps on that field for us to make anybody they go up against know that they know who hit them, or juked them, or made them look silly.
