Before Dylan's Husker career is over, he'll be pressing for the top of the list. But -- as Coach Rhule would say -- he's gotta work for it first.Frazier. Gill, Crouch, Tagged, and yes...Raiola. Guy is just so smooth, accurate and poised.
When the position is "QB," the natural reaction is to rack our brains for the best pass/run threats we've had over the years.
But in my mind, the top five has to go to 'Ballers,' field generals who oozed confidence and had their teammates rallying behind them. That's why Turner Gill, Jerry Tagge, and Tommie Frazier immediately come to mind. But it's impossible to ignore a Heisman Trophy winner so Eric Crouch makes my list too.
But my last finalist hasn't gotten any attention in this thread. At first glance, it's understandable. He was FAR from being the most athletic QB we've had....and he was a juco transfer....and played for a coach we all hated. But, in my opinion, the kid was one hell of a baller: Zac Taylor.
The fact that he's gone on to become a respected NFL head coach speaks volumes about his drive and determination. If you need proof, I submit the way Zac led the Huskers on a last-minute drive to beat Texas A&M -- on the road -- in THAT environment -- as my evidence. That was Joe Montana-level stuff.
