What's the best road stadium/game day experience you've ever had?

Music City Bowl a couple years ago. Game outcome sucked but the experience was awesome.
The only bowl game I've ever attended was the Orange Bowl with the Nebraska vs. Oklahoma rematch.

The old Orange Bowl showed its age but the biggest disappointment (besides losing) was that the game atmosphere totally lacked any of the passion and intensity of their game in Lincoln.

Nebraska lost more bowls because it was tied to that dirty old POS Orange Bowl who obviously tainted the officials.

I'll always remember the OB ref screw-jobs we got against Clemson and Florida State that gift-wrapped their national championships.

I'll also remember Irving Fryer dropping the TD pass in the Orange Bowl vs. Miami and we got a camera shot of an orange-coated Orange Bowl official applauding.

I have been to so many Bowl games over the years and have visited most visitors campuses but the best I have been to and the most fun (don't hate me here) was Boulder back in the 70's. It was called Lincoln West back then and Husker fans know how to party.

Completely took over the Harvest House and the court yard. It was amazing. I have been to all Big 8 and Big 12 stadiums but none compared to Boulder back in the go old days. I could write a book about all of those great times.

Then they turned into idiots and ruined everything.

We use to enjoy those trips to Boulder as well. The Harvest House was great after the win. But I think the last time I went to an NU-CU game was back in the late 1970's so most of the people at the Harvest House were Husker fans. You are right about how much fun those times were, at least until I passed out from too much alcohol. Hope I wasn't one of the idiots you are referencing.

That's quite a feat, Mo! Back in the day, my bucket list was to see a Husker game in every Big 8 (then revised to the Big XII) stadium, but I fell short.

Never saw an away game against Okie State for a complete Big 8 list and the same goes for Baylor and Texas Tech when we were still in the Big XII.

In the B1G, I've got a long way to go (and know I'll never hit them all.) But I've been to Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Penn State.

Mo, you mentioned CU but I'm curious how you would rank all of the Big XII/Big 8 stadiums?

I had to drive back to Birmingham from South Florida early the next morning, but I was a college student--indestructible, right? Anyway, at the old Orange Bowl there was almost no parking and you had to find space in someone's yard. We got blocked in by a drunk OU fan...cost me at least an hour of sleep before driving 700 miles.

Most of the people blocked in were Nebraska fans...and we gave him a loud chorus of boos when he finally staggered to his car. I hate to think that guy was operating a motor vehicle that night.

You should write a book.

A few road game comments based on my travels:

Prettiest road game venue: Kansas
Most intimidating road game crowd: Penn State (A&M second)
Most enjoyable road game atmosphere for visitors: Kansas*, K-State*, Northwestern
Crappiest road game atmosphere for the visitors: 1. CU 2. Wisconsin 3. Mizzou 4. Penn State 5. Miami
Worst road game experience: Iowa 2012. Coldest damn game EVER!
Wildest road game win: 1. NU vs OU, 1983, 24-17 2. 2010 @ Iowa St. NU 31-ISU 30 3. 1998 vs OSU @ Arrowhead Stadium, 24-17.

* All of my experiences there included Husker fans taking over the town and the Husker players blowing out the home team. :)

I was at that 2, i was in the open end on the bleachers to the right of the goal post when looking on the field.
was unbelievable.....i had tears in my eyes .....
then reality settled in on the way back to the car all the cars with rental plates and out of state plates where broken into
We were staying in Ft Lauderdale. The hotel told us to take the train to near the stadium. Buses shuttled us from there. Totally no hassle. But my memory of that game is the husker fans were shouting GBR and husker power for a full hour before the game. Very exciting. But then we got pulled down by the looooooooong halftime show with the elephants which made sure it was after nidnight getting back to the hotel.

i stayed with in laws ( not anymore now i am a outlaw to them ) which was nice and had a local car so we didn't get broken in to . But one of the locals pulled a gun on me for having a NEB shirt on while walking to the game

have lived down here for along time now and still hate the hurrican'ts and about 97% of the so called fans.

I've been to 1 road game ever and 2 bowl games. Both bowl games were Fiesta Bowls, the National Title blow out against the Gators and the 2000 Fiesta against Tennessee. The 1 road game, yeah I try to block it out of my memory, 19-0 loss to ASU. Their fans were the worst I had been around.
