What's the best road stadium/game day experience you've ever had?

'83 romp over minny at the Hubert Humphrey Metro dome.
84-13, it doesnt get much better than that.

I was at that game in the Humphrey Dome and YES, it ranks right up there as one of my favorite road games.

I've been blessed to have had a number of fun road game trips over my lifetime. But the memory that stands out the most was during my last road trip to Norman for the NU-OU game back in 1983.

Since 1975, I had gone to every Husker game in Norman (yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment) so the game day experience there wasn't that big of a deal. In fact, the 83 game was the worst experience going into the game of all of my Oklahoma trips.

It was a very dark, gray day and my seats were absolutely horrible. Worst ones ever. We were at field level on the east side of OU's stadium staring out at the south endzone. From our vantage point, we couldn't see much of anything happening on the north side of the field beyond the 50 yard line. On top of all that, it was pouring rain the second half of the game. I was newly-married and my non-fan wife was, as you might expect, not thrilled by this 'fun' day.

With that long-winded lead-up, here's my favorite road game memory:

At the end of the fourth quarter with OU threatening to tie the game on my end of the field, OU's Bradley threw a pass to Buster Rhymes directly in front of me. It's the only time in my life as a fan that the football seemed to float in the air forever. Then, at the very last second, Neil Harris batted the ball away to preserve the Husker win.

I can still get goosebumps thinking about that one! :)

Edit: I had to watch the ending again.

I've only been to two road games....1976 at LSU (6-6 tie, NU was #1 going into the game.) ...
The word is that it doesn't get much more intimidating than a night game against LSU at Baton Rouge. That was a radio game for me but the announcers sure made it sound like it was a super-loud stadium for the home team that night.

National Title game vs Miami (Sapp and Lewis) in the old Orange Bowl. The atmosphere was electric.
You lucky dog you!!! :)

I was at that 2, i was in the open end on the bleachers to the right of the goal post when looking on the field.
was unbelievable.....i had tears in my eyes .....
then reality settled in on the way back to the car all the cars with rental plates and out of state plates where broken into

I too was at that game(LSU 6-6 tie). It was loud because of their fans stomping the hell out of their metal bleacher seats. Almost got into it with one of their adult fans and the only reason it didn't turn ugly is because he had his young son with him. I didn't want to risk getting beaten up by a 10 year old.

I have been to Nebraska road games against both Texas and Texas A&M. I was very UNimpressed with UT’s game day atmosphere. In contrast, A&M’s was awesome and the noise-level inside the stadium was right up there with the very best.

Unfortunately, my A&M game was the Big XII referee screw-job game and not the one where Zac’s staged a masterful, game-winning TD drive. Having witnessed first-hand how noisy that stadium can get, it makes what Taylor and his fellow Huskers did that day all the more impressive.
