What were the best teams Nebraska faced at home and away?

I know if you ask older Alabama fans which was the best team Alabama faced many would say Nebraska '71 in the Orange Bowl. I imagine if you ask Florida fans they would say '95 Nebraska.

What were the best teams Nebraska's faced in Lincoln and on the road or in a bowl game?

I imagine Miami 2001 would be in the running. Oklahoma '71 should be too as well as some Oklahoma teams that were national champions. Penn State '82 was another national championship team Nebraska played on the road. Miami '83 was a road game having to play the Hurricanes in the Orange Bowl. We played Florida State '94 for a national championship in the Orange Bowl. That's three national championship teams in a row that we faced.

The Orange Bowl against Alabama '66 was before my time. Those come to mind right away before I've had any coffee this morning. What were some others?

87 OU team with their back-up QB. I remember fondly Steve Taylor and Broderick Thomas flapping their gums about kicking the Sooners butts then we lose at home 17-7.

Best team to play in Lincoln - probably one of the many stellar OU teams. 87 OU or one of those early 70s OU teams were REALLY good.

Away game regular season? early 70s OU again seems like a good answer. Or maybe PSU in 1983 (eventual MNC).

The 1978 OU team was the best opponent I saw play in Memorial Stadium. The best thing about upsetting them was depriving them of the national championship they deserved.

If the new playoff system had been around in the 70s and 80s, both Nebraska and Oklahoma would have won additional NCs.

Away would be '71 OU hands down...probably an all time top 5 team.
Bowl game - Miami 2001
Home game - 1955 OU, NC and lots of All American players.
