There's more to the problem offense than Satt? What if there's a soap opera drama going on behind the scenes that we don't know about? As I have only past results to go by, perhaps all these "connected" media people have complicitly agreed to never mention it. I've seen that over a dozen times that afterwards they try to spin a narrative that is little more than excuse making. So I wouldn't be surprised.
Glenn Thomas was brought in as DR's "QB Guru". He was given the title of Co-OC. Is there conflict between GT and Satt as to what's going on? Is GT loyal to Matt Rhule or the Raiolas? I'm a big believer in One Voice. It's hard to follow when you get echoes that conflict. I wish I could hear the conversations that go on.
Of course some on here will say I just love conspiracy theories, and they may have a point. But, I also have gut feelings, and as I've grown older I've learned to listen to my gut. Something feels off, and I can't put my finger on it, but my gut tells me there are relationship problems that need to be sorted out.

Please remember- you heard it here first.

I don’t know exactly what’s going on with the offense but I can tell you it doesn’t look anything like what other teams are running. It’s so basic, so vanilla and it’s almost like our opponents know what’s coming based on the formations and pre-snap adjustments/motion, especially in the run game. It’s like they have no intuition, ambition or imagination to come up with better plays. Hell they don’t even steal things from other teams. It’s the same plays over and over!

Problem is those running the offense, all except Donovan, are Rhule’s boys. And Donovan is safe because of the Railoa ties.

I was once told Osborne only had 6 plays in running the triple option offense but that he had about 20+ formations for each of them. This made it way easier for the offense to learn it and made blocking schemes so much easier. Repetition in practice of the same 6 plays translated to kicking almost everyone's butts during the game.

Everyone has probably heard the story of Mike Leach using 4 basic plays but ran multiple formations out of them. All of this on a piece of paper the size of a small napkin. Moral to the story make the offense easy to learn and the blocking schemes easy to learn and you can establish a strong run game. We can see that with army and navy. Something so simple yet so devastating because they run through it all the time because they only have a limited amount of plays.

Carriker alluded to running the same play out of various formations below...

Just a couple observations from the Indiana game on running the ball. When we ran between the tackles - we had some success. When we ran the ball outside including the WRs runs we mix in - IU was all over it and we got essentially nothing. The play calling should have focused on running between the tackles based on the results. But it didn't. We opened the game almost exclusively pass (one run play on opening drive) and as we got behind we just put it on DR15 to save our ass throwing the ball. He looked OK up to that point - when under pressure to bring us back he made several bad throws - resulting in the INTs. In general - our receivers aren't creating big windows for DR15 to throw in - but some of that is our pass game scheme IMHO not maximizing what the guys we have can do.

I remember USC came to Lincoln and fell behind and went back to the power run game and clawed back took the lead and eventually ran away with the game.

All I can say to this is...if your "theories" have any legs to it...wouldn't there have been any inkling of trouble leading up to this past game?

Granted, I don't have eyes, nor ears to any inside info regarding Husker athletics, but I think we would have some kind of precursor to why the team would just lie down and cower like whipped dogs.

You hit on something important. You mentioned when we ran between the tackles we had success. You are correct we did. But did you notice who it was running between the tackles? Primarily Dowdell and he is great between the tackles. However if you run him outside he gets almost no yards. He's not fast enough to run the ball outside. EJ and RJ are though. Also EJ is very good between the tackles as well. Anyway back to your point. We had success running between the tackles, then we go away from it and the drive stalls, or we ount, turn the ball over. This tells me Satterfield has no feel for the game. He should've run it between the tackles until the defense can show that they can consistently stop it. Same thing when HH got that 8 yard gain on our 2nd drive to setup a 3rd and 1. Why did Satterfield pull HH? He should've left him in to either run read option or triple option. Probably picks up the 1st down without turning the ball over. I would dare Indiana to stop HH. Just some thoughts.

Running is also about firing off the ball, staying low, pad level, taking the right steps and angles to get to your guy, hand placement, and just having the desire to hit the defender as hard as you can. Run blocking is more about attitude, effort, and technique than it is talent. And as I watch Nebraska try and run, I see OL getting too high, taking bad angles--which often results in bad footwork and holding calls.

It is my contention that if Matt Rhule can fix the running game to where Nebraska can churn out 200-250 yards per game on the ground, all the other problems, for example the woeful passing game, go away because teams are so focused on stopping the run it opens up play-action even more.

Also, I read in one of your posts (and I have been saying this for a couple weeks now) opposing DCs have Satterfield's "NFL" offense figured out and yes, it is an incredibly basic, easily predictable, offense for opposing DCs to game-plan against. The fact that our offense is getting worse each week with lower production is proof of that. That, and Dylan Riola is terribly regressing.
