Tony White gone?

If the talent was so bad , why didn’t you start ?

I actually think he was being pretty frank, and fair, in his comparison. And he didn't, at least not in that article, lay claims to be a starter at FSU either. Lacking depth was a known here. And that surely affects your practice and your game packages. Clearly- he just didn't find the right fit here. Mentally or otherwise.

During Frost's time here, there was an article where conference coaches could speak anonymously and several said Nebraska was known as the "All Bus Team."
I wouldn't doubt that a bit. It comes with the territory of having one of the biggest social media fan bases in CFB with a team that hasn't done much in a decade, or two decades depending on how you look at it. Other fan bases get jealous of the attention we receive and whine, "Why do the Huskers still get so damn much attention?!?!? Yet another example of media bias!!!" (Pssst...Hint to fellow B1G fans: It's all about the eyeballs.)

That's why B1G teams, especially ones like Indiana, relish it when they kick our butts in football. Long-time Indiana basketball fans can understand.

Once upon a time, Indiana was considered one of The Elite BB programs in the country. But the program has faded over the years. I recall listening to a Hoosier podcast on Youtube after the Hoosiers had gotten beated by the Huskers (again) this year and the host and his callers were absolutely livid that Nebraska kicked their butts. It was like, How the hell are we losing to...NEBRASKA??!? It goes without saying that Indiana ended up firing their coach (again).

And what did they do to us on the field last season ? Talk about a roll reversal

I chalk this up to a player being more loyal to a coach than a program. Good, bad or otherwise that's the nature of a lot of college athletes now days. As best I can remember, James Williams was recruited by Terrance Knighton and/or Tony White. He had a close relationship with Knighton.
Just for research, I googled James Williams this morning and came across and article from a site called Tomahawk Nation (not posting the link because I don't want to give free press to FSU) which is a Florida State page. It talked about Williams putting on 20 pounds and the coaches talking about being a first round draft pick next year who is only going to be around for a year and him being an every down player in the 3-3-5 defense.
So I get him talking up Florida St and not wanting to look bad to his new teammates.
No skin off my teeth. He's no longer a Husker but I'll probably glance from time to time to see how he does. Personally, I hope he loses every game...well except maybe against Miami...because I don't like Florida St.

Yes JW went through some ordeal with his family and it came out during last season that Knighton was basically his father figure. I can understand that and don't fault him but it would be nice for him to show a little gratitude towards the rest of the coaching staff & the university who gave him a chance and helped him develop.

The high praise is also not a surprise, at the camp in Belton (TX) that the coaches attended last year prior to the season Knighton was quoted by Sipple as saying that JW was his best DL (yes Ty & Nash were still on the roster at that point).

The player who belittles other players usually does so because he doubts himself. I didn't see anything last season that would cause me to elevate him to a special player status. If Knighton believed he was his best DL yet kept him on the bench, it doesn't speak well of him as a coach. Just my two cents worth.

He showed - at times - elite pass rushing capability. I'll call it twitch - that ability to beat an olineman to a spot. But he was inconsistent and a liability against the run because big bodies moved him easily in run blocking. I don't think his technique was great (showed up when he played against good OTs that didn't just get beat off the ball). TK might be right from a potential to be great standpoint - but JW wasn't there last season. At this point - I wish TK and JW the best. Hope they have success. Enough success Nebraska can give them a beat down in a bowl game.
