I'll be happy if Tim Brando never calls another Nebraska game.

It was like listening to the UCLA broadcast..."what do the Bruins need to do to get back in this game?"

Over and over and over again.

Even in the victory formation, he was asking Gardner if there was anything UCLA could do.

At one point, he said he "fell in love this week with Tim Skipper."

Brando needs to go call Mountain West games or something. Time to retire.

I even said in the chat early in the game that those tv announcers were insufferable.

Although, I have to say, I do think that if it had been reversed, and Nebraska was down 14, I'd think he'd probably ask the same question, but in reverse.

I just watch the game with the tv on mute regardless of who is calling the game.

Like I don't need them to tell me that Emmett Johnson made two jump cuts, made 3 defenders miss, en route to a 12 yard gain. Or that the QB completed a 14 yard pass to Nyziah Hunter I can see all that.

Sorry but, nonsense - time to clean your scarlet-colored glasses. They praised players on both teams all night long. They both couldn't get enough of TJ, Emmett... They were just excited for whoever was doing well. He must have praised Rocco's run blocking 6 times after that big reception... he even invoked Keith Jackson's "big uglies".

The two were pretty goofy in the booth but I loved it - they were having fun and sounded like homers for both teams. They played to both fan bases all night long.

People don't seem to understand this: the announcers on national TV have to at least pretend that a lot of UCLA fans were watching, too (although I would understand if anyone argued there weren't any, because LA fans are famously bandwagoners). The 2 or 3 UCLA fans who actually were watching are probably bitching that Brando and Gardner CLEARLY were rooting for Nebraska because they weren't angry when Emmett scored his TDs

I heard they were giving tickets away to the Rose Bowl last nite

Bingo.

I doubt that very much.

Praise both teams at the same level. Don't focus on how UCLA can get back in the game for minutes on end. It's called being a professional, unbiased broadcaster.

I need to adopt Husker 99's habit of just turning down the volume, at least when Brando comes up again.

Again- disagree. What are they supposed to say. Keith Jackson, the greatest of all time, had plenty of colorful comments along the likes of what you describe.

We agree on one thing: Keith Jackson was the greatest in college football history.

You're shocked that sports announcers try to keep the audience's attention with off the cuff remarks for 3+ hours???...I'm shocked.

I used to consider Tim Brando as one of the better play-by-play announcers in CFB. But something about his style doesn't work for me anymore.

Maybe it's his interactions with the broadcast sidekick he works with nowadays but he says stuff that he apparently thinks is funny or clever that makes him sound (at least for me) disengenuous and full of himself.

I think you missed my point.

Brando was a UCLA homer on Saturday night and it got on my nerves near the end. He was even trying to figure out what UCLA could do to stop the victory formation. A bit much, don't you think?

No, I got the point. I always get the point...UNLESS it's the B1G network; however, doing a Husker game, one can pretty much assume there will be roughly only a 30% positive Husker spin on anything.

I'd go as far as to say that ever since I.M. Hipp's name was a cool talking point have Nebraska fans felt certain to be treated in a "regular" fashion.

I can't explain it other than the opinion it comes from a position of envy, jealousy, and/or resentment of our overall success throughout the years. I mean if there ever were a time to kick us when we were down, it has been the last 13ish years.

I sense the resentment is creeping back. Don't know...JMO
