This Team is Awful

I really thought the team would make a jump this year. Sadly, there has been no improvement from year 1. The blame lies squarely on the coaches shoulders, and ultimately head coach Riley's shoulders. Sad to say, changes need to be made. 2 weeks to prepare for Purdue and this is what the coaching staff came up with?

I.E. coaching!!!!!! Or more over POOR coaching.

Certainly, but Diaco is supposed to be a defensive guru and we can't tackle for crap. Same thing under Pelini. Hell, if it wasn't for Suh, David and a handful of other superstars, things could have been a lot worse earlier on.

Pointing the finger at one element seems a bit simplistic to me. Coaching is certainly part of it. I'm not denying that at all. However, it seems more plausible to me that it is coaching combined with other factors that have contributed to our current situation.

My best friend and my nephew, both of whom are very knowledgable fans, felt the same way. I asked them based on what evidence did they draw that conclusion. Both admitted they bought into the hype about Lee and Diaco. They thought I was nuts when I predicted we were going 7-5. (I know I've said this in many threads.)

Every time I've predicted success in the past decade, it has been based mostly on hope and feelings rather than something I've seen on the field in a game or previous season.

Maybe that's why I'm not losing my mind about Riley. I expected a dip. I didn't expect so many blocking issues, but I expected a learning curve with the D and with Lee. Honestly, it "looks" like Lee has made some progress this season and the D, while still making some huge mistakes (open receivers, misreads, out of position, etc . . . ) might be making some steps forward. I wish we were healthy in the secondary.

You are right it is... but the main one influences the other..

bad coaching attributes to bad player attitude and effort. if you get the correct coach he will instill the correct attitude and the effort will change dramatically. THAT is a fact and that is how ISU is winning so quickly.
