That was the game we needed

Once the game was decided, the O line did a bit better. Early on, most run plays were only one or two yards. Martinez scrambling for positive yards skewed the stats quite a bit. A review will support this I believe, and show that over half our designed run plays were for two yards or less. If our O line can't make openings against 2 star athletes I think we will become one dimensional against better teams. Pass blocking looked like they barely held their own, and AM2 moved around a lot. Can someone explain to me what is wrong with our technique? We should have out-athleted their D line.
Anyways, it was a fun win, and I saw reason to think we'll be competitive in most of our games. We'll win some, but a bowl game may not happen. There was improvement in the turnover department and that's huge.

We have 9 more games and only need to win 4 of them to make it to a bowl.

Yeah, 31 points in the 1st Qtr pretty much tells me everything I need to know about next week's game. We'll have a much better idea of where this team is at.

Having said that, previous year's teams more than likely would have folded by half time. That didn't happen so that, in itself, is progress.

I still think that if OU is having a down week and we are "up", we can pull out a win in Norman. Not likely to happen but it is possible. I'm curious to see how we will rebound if we get stomped in Norman. A lot to anticipate and see how it all plays out.

As Husker99 said, only 4 more games to bowl qualify. I have no idea where those wins will come from as it is a brutal schedule. We are through the cupcake portion without a doubt.

2 things: 1) We dominated Buffalo and I didn't think we would do this. We played well on Defense and need to clean up penalties that remove TDs. 2) Not sure what's going on with Culp but we need to find a kicker or else we are going to lose some close games because we can't make a FG.
Even though Culp was an all-conference kicker, I was nervous every time he kicked last season. He rarely booted it right down the middle, and his leg isn’t that strong.

Just now started watching the game. I've found that my day goes much better if i just record it then watch it later, if they win, as opposed to watching a possible meltdown and be put in a disgruntled mood the rest of the day. Like the helmets.

I'm not a fan of martinez per se - but he accounted for 354 of our 516 yards, half our points and no turnovers. That didn't "stink". Plus more than 700yds and four TD's in our first back-2-back wins in two years.

FWIW

There were times he was okay, there were times he was inept. It's not good enough to compete in the B10.

They played better than I expected - and if they had not had 3 TDs taken off the board (2 on VERY questionable calls) we blow Buffalo out. Still plenty to fix/clean up including punt return game and FGs.....but I liked alot of what I saw. Our RBs getting stuffed repeatedly was the biggest issue. Not sure we can fix that - we just are not good enough on the oline. Buffalo run blitzed a fair amount so some of it is scheme/play calling but execution is just not there - we still don't have guys starting that should be starting in the B1G.

But this is what we see game after game, year after year. It is who we are. Thank God for the Fordham's and Buffalo's of the world. Let's do this against Minny, Iowa, Illinois (oops), Indiana, etc. You know. Turnovers, penalties, TD's called back, etc., and we still win by 24.
