That super rich a-hole that backs Texas Tech is trying to blow up our B1G TV Deal

The only was to save CFB is to level the playing field in the mid-tiers. Two conferences strangling the other 80 teams is going to kill the sport. Give the other conferences their spotlight in the sun to shield our top tournament seeds in rounds 1 and 2. Let the wildcards battle back to redemption in the same rounds. Round 3 will set up a spectacular championship.
I think it was in the late 70s that college football split to 2 divisions when there were over 140 division 1 teams. That became what are FBS and FCS are now. We are at 138 teams in FBS now.
Does it split again? 80 or so teams go to the CFP Super Division and the rest into some sort of bowl division or another lower division and they still play their own playoffs.
Heck, make it like English soccer. Teams get relegated and promoted from division to division each year.

The UFL (XFL and USFL merger) and CFL are financially stable at the moment. Indoor football leagues have been going for decades. Semipro football has been around over 100 years. Minor league teams constantly evolve because they generally don't have consistent sponsors or stadium commitments. But pure love of the game keeps them around.

UFL is a Spring league. CFL goes June through October, Canada's warmer months. Indoor Football League, financially the best arena league, is March to July. Almost all arena leagues, mostly played by blue collar participants with no shot at the NFL, generally go late Spring through June or July. Nobody wants to compete financially against the NCAA and NFL. The only football league that has sustained during the same season is NAIA, another collegiate program with a 70+ year long tradition. But many NAIA programs started back between 1890-1910 under conferences that often included future NCAA programs. So imho football is best played in fair and warmer weather.

Spring football and bowl games are largely played at a loss to the programs. Spreading the season out allows players to focus on being student-athletes. Spreading the season out helps players recover from injuries between games. Spreading the season out with a winter break, with bowl games replaced by a rivalry game at a neutral venue, can work.
Spring or summer college football would kill the sport.
However, I do agree with Deion Sanders that schools should be able to schedule a game against another school for the Spring Game. Even if its against a lower division school.

I say get rid of all the conferences. Make it 120 teams in the FBS. rank them 1-120, divide them into 12 10 team divisions. You play one team from each division. Use the NSAA (Nebraska high school) point system. You get so many points for beating a team, such as:
50 pts for winning a game against a team with 0, 1 or 2 losses
48 pts for winning a game agaist a team with 3,4,5 losses
46 pts for winning a games against a team with 6.7,8 9 losses
44 pts for winning a game against a team with 10,11,12 losses
If you lose you get
42 pts for a loss to a team with 0,1,2 losses
40 pts for a loss to a team with 3,4,5 losses
38 pts for a loss to a team with 6,7,8,9 losses
35 pts for a loss to a team with 10,11,12 losses
Your points would change from week to week as a teams recored changes. At the end of the season take the top 16 teams (point averages) to the playoffs.
Take the tv money and split it between the top 120 teams every year so they all get the same amount. Scrap all conferences. Division 2 can be the next 120 teams. The top 10 in Div 2 replace the bottom 10 in division 1 every year, so smaller schools will get a chance to play with the big boys. Give each school a maximum they can spend on players. All players are on scholarship, and all players get paid. There will be a minimum each player gets paid and a maximum. All NIL money goes to the schools to use as their payout. But again there is a cap for each team. Say 30 million.
As for the portal: you stay a minimum of 2 years at the first school you sign with and then get one transfer for the rest of your career. If the coach you sign with gets fired or quits you can transfer, but not to the school he went to for the first year he is there.
Crazy......but it might just work!!

I don't see this working. First, what about rivalry games? Games like Michigan / OSU. These are big TV draws. Second, all any team can do is control how many wins it has. It cannot control how may wins or losses the teams they play have. You could have a really good team that wins all its games by 30 points that loses out on the playoffs because the teams it played did not have winning records. Third, Teams like Nebraska spend 75 million a year on their football program. Other teams may spend 10 million. If you give each team an equal share, the team that spends 10 mill will be smiling, NU will go bankrupt. Fourth, all wins are not equal. For example, last year Western Michigan and Ohio State had similar win / loss records. Yet Western Michigan was not good enough to beat a 4-win Michigan State. Fourth, TV audiences want to see conference matchups and competitive games. They don't want to watch a bunch of random blowout games. Lastly, caping the NIL at 30 million will do nothing to stop the big money teams from having an advantage. Only a couple of teams are spending more than than anyway.

You can spend all you want on the program. The cap is for what you pay players only. And if you win all of your games you will make the playoffs. And its not about what the record is when you play them. Its their record at the end of the season. Thus why your point average would change every week. And its still better than a committee saying "I like this team, they pass the eye test".

Where is the money going to come from? You are giving away a large part of the TV revenue. I pointed out, you can win all your games but still have a lower score under your rules. If the teams you play don't have winning seasons, your score will not be high.

I'll take the committee. There is a reason a power 4 team has won the NC for over 20 years. They are the most talented. There is also a reason the Big 10 and SEC have the best TV contracts. People watch them. Viewers could care less about the AAC or the MAC or a dozen other small conferences.

Well - Campbell went directly to the big guy. Supposed to be an Executive Order coming soon.......at least the Power 4 conferences leaders were there for today's summit at the White House. Along with Tim Tebow for some reason. No actual current players invited.......

Honestly, I’m excited to see how the EO will make the owners of Paramount even more money while not doing anything to improve the health of the game. Will it be spell-checked? Will there be pictures drawn in crayon? Will every school need to name a building after him? Can’t wait. I’m sure it will be ready in 2 weeks.

These are all perfectly valid questions and I'm sure the answers will be bigly.

You know... It is going to be hard as hell to police no politics in this forum when politics decides to thrust itself into every f'ing piece of our lives and board members can't contain themselves by making sure that they can't find the line where we can talk about pieces of politics and where the line is that you should not cross. So, this thread is now closed.

Some of you have been here for years. Why don't you all help us moderators out and do your job and don't cross the line. If you think to yourself hey... this might be around that line. Don't post it.

Also if we insist on keeping this us. Time outs can be used.

Thanks, a pissed of SOC
