What have I been saying?
Guttula ain't making it and the TE room is limited to Lindenmeyer and not a lot from him. TEs need to step up.
Yep, Guttula didn't have his best day but I wouldn't give Luke any grief. On an offense with a whole bunch of playmakers, there's only one football to go around.

My crystal ball says the fans will be yelling Luuuuuuuuke when the Big Guns come to Lincoln.

So a Tight End that's going to be playing on Sundays is limited to helping the Oline block?
Let me get on my tin foil hat. Both Rhule and Dana publicly sing the praises of Luke way stronger than his play has warranted, I'm not saying Luke isn't good. I'm thinking something is rotten in the coaching room. ...and it ain't the fish. I think the Satterfield situation is coming to a head and Rhule and Dana want Luke to know it's not him that's the problem.

Bonner is a very good blocker but he's not a TE body - so blocking DEs are not something he will excel at. I'd like to see him get the ball a bit more.

My trusty ChatGPT (for now anyway until it kills me a decade from now) tells me that a blocking TE in the NFL averages 1 or 2 catches per game. The overall NFL average for the position is a little over 3 per game. Luke has had 2 in each of our games.

Sorry PD, but I'm not seeing any grand conspiracy here. I may be wrong but I think Luke has more receptions than Hunter right now.

LOL... this election cycle's COVID... :bash:

Don't flog me if it's wrong, but outside of Barney I think that the WR's have as many drops as receptions. So in my simple mind the majority of our passes are 0-10 yards, it only makes sense to use the Tight Ends five or 6 times per game at least. Let those WR's clear out middle!

If true, most of them were in the first game of the season. Can't be too many drops when the QB goes 20-24 passing with 1 (IMO) miss-call by the refs.

You brought up an interesting question because my sense is that we've "opened up the passing game" significantly from last season when all of the passes from Dylan's 5-star arm were short ones (except his Hail Mary to Barney in the Michigan game.)

So, I checked. Through two games, 19 passes (45%) have been 0-10 yards and 23 (55%) have been 11 yards or more: 11-20=15; 21-29=5; and 30+= 3.

we still need to throw to the Tight Ends more, I'm sticking to that statement.
And I think most of us would agree with you. In my mind, one of the things the coaches want to accomplish during the first four games is to "get everybody involved" and see how everybody performs on the big stage.

But we are in a conference with superior coaches so they want to be careful how many cards they show before we get to conference time. My bet is that at the end of the season we'll all be satisfied (as much as that's possible with OUR bunch) with Luke's receptions.

For those of you who like to place the occasional wager, Fan Duel Sportsbook has the odds for the NU/ND game with, big shock, NU a 24.5 point favorite.

Or if you would like a guarantee, Jason Eck and the New Mexico Lobos are getting 22.5 against the Sooners of Oklahoma. The money line is +1300 as well. I bet both!

Anyhow, back on point. I appreciate how Coach Matt describes our non-con sked as Murderers Row each pre-game presser. Ohio, Bowling Green, and North Dakota. The epitome of hyperbole.
