Super Official Nebraska vs Maryland Game Week Thread

25.8% chance to make the CFP?

Good news is, that is I think a 25.7% increase in our chances prior to the season starting.

Bad news is, to even have a chance to make the CFP, we'd have to get to 10 or 11 wins and I think that is just a bridge too far. But as I always say, that's why the games are played and not simulated.
As I stated earlier, I think 8 is doable. 9 is a major stretch.

The SEC Network (i.e. ESPN) has never been a big fan of Nebraska. But according to their top-secret, proprietary analytics, they have us favored in FIVE of our remaining eight games. If we beat Maryland Saturday (we're favored by two TDs, OhioHusker), that would give us NINE WINS.

For the record, ESPN puts our odds of beating Indiana at 32.%, Oregon at 24.6% and Ohio State at 24.1%.

Note: Double-check my numbers. I always sucked at Math.

I have watched less football this year than any year since I was 3. Should I expect a win against Maryland?

The metrics say yes. Rob Aurich's defense, thus far, has passed the "eyeball" test and the game is in Lincoln. The key will be containing the Maryland QB. He's not a runner in the Colandrea sense, but if you don't contain him, he's more than capable of taking off and running.

I've watched the Huskers, just nobody else.
Will the Huskers win tomorrow. Dunno, on any given Saturday and all that. There are two possible reasons for a loss, as I see it. One being that the team overlooks it as a gimme and starts focusing on Indiana. That would make HCMRh and staff look bad for not being able to keep team focused on the game at hand (I do NOT expect this to be an issue). The more likely scenario being that the Terps step up to the challenge, play lights out and get the "W" hoping to keep their coach from being fired. Don't know the dynamics of the Terps so I don't know hoe likely this one is. Just know that the team needs to be focusing on this game and playing like there's no tomorrow, something they should be doing for each game.

GO BIG RED!!!

Reason #3 why the Terps could win. Injuries. Rule and Nelson will be sorely missed if they remain on the Injured List. Ugh!!! We might have won the MSU game but they inflicted some injuries for sure.

This is the time now for the Nebraska faithful and coaches to do what they do best recently and that is panic. I mean, let's start hand wringing and pacing in our homes. Let's get those prepared posts and comments about how the coaches can't get the 3rd and 4th and 5th string running backs ready and why the hell is Dana Holgorson passing 60 times Saturday - don't they trust the OL and running game. We just knew that things couldn't last, etc, etc ,etc.

THIS is the game the decides Matt Rhule's future as Nebraska head coach. ;)

Winning the games you're supposed to win and one or two you're not supposed to win. When we get to that point I'll quit with the hand wringing,.

I'm of the opinion that this program has returned to that point. If we "win one or two" of the games we're not suppose to win, we've become a...

...I don't wanna jinx it, but you know what.
