Sunday Morning Thoughts - Post UCLA

That team was a little better from tackle to tackle
Yeah, just a tad bit better, RED ED. ;)

You gotta love Nebraska fandom where your back-up play is criticized when compared to a Husker walk-on who played over 30 years ago on one of the greatest CFB teams of all time.

Funny how your memory can play tricks on you. A year or so ago, I saw a Youtube video replay of that "Terminator" game and was shocked to discover now that he'd only played the first half.

This is a very important statistic to keep in mind.

Way too often, we Husker fans look at our team and -- consciously or unconsciously -- see the consistent greatness the program had in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. While Husker Nation is freaking amazing (like having more Husker fans in the Rose Bowl than hometown Bruins fans -- 1,300 miles away from Lincoln), it puts a hell of a lot of pressure on today's players when they fail to live up to our always high expectations.

Fact is, Rhule inherited a program in the dumps. He knew the mess he was stepping into so I don't feel sorry for him. But building a program from scratch takes time. Yeah, Cignetti caught lightening in a bottle with what he inherited at Indiana and what he brought with him from JMU. But look back at the so-called 'TOP' hires made in 2023: Freeze at Auburn, Fickle at Wisconsin and Sanders at Colorado. Freeze has already been fired, Fickle is on the hot seat, and Sanders should be.

We're making undisputed progress. Day-by-Day, people! GO BIG RED!

Okay and so anywhays do we stop at 7 with the hope of extending the streak to 5 seasons next year? If we win 8 or 9 this year it will be very difficult to keep the streak alive next season. Where is our priorities?
Personally, I would recommend we screw the streak and go for 10 wins this year and rely on the tried-and-true "Hunchie Approach."

If, somehow and someway, we fall short next year, we continue to still stand tall and proudly proclaim 'well, it was almost 11!"
