ANOTHER HEARTBREAKER. I really thought we had this one – we were just one play away from getting it done. So damn close against both Indiana and Oregon. The defense played tough but we needed a Colandrea-style difference maker on defense down the stretch and didn’t get one. This was a very tough one to lose--especially considering how we lost it and who did it to us. I’m glad we’ve got a Bye Week to regroup.

IT'S 2 AM. 'nuff said.

GO BIG RED!

Sadly we are still Nebraska. Aurich should be pissed. D played lights out the last two weeks, certainly well enough to win both games. We controlled both games and because the offense could not build a lead they left the defense with no margin for error. We had a chance on our last possession to put the game away or at least eat up some clock and we fail to do anything so the D has to rush back out on the field without a breather. Colandrea is a gamer, I don't question his heart or will to win. Is it the coaches that prohibit us from developing that killer instinct? I don't know but now we get to stew over these last two losses when we should be going into the bye undefeated and in the top ten.

Oh yeah the cherry on top was we just let Dylan play the hero and enter the game in the last quarter to lead a comeback and remind us that he may be gone but some things don't change.
Can't disagree with anything you said. Rhule just doesn't have what it takes.to win at this level. We may win one or 2 more games but that's it. Unless the offense can move the ball and the defenses stays aggressive all game.

Oh yeah the cherry on top of the $%!* sundae is we let Dylan play the hero and come in late in the game to drive the dagger through the hearts of Husker Nation. After all the crap we talked about him and blame we put on him for our troubles he exonerated himself and made us eat crow.

and Dylan was a pro after the game. Talked about his love of Nebraska and that being HOME for him. So we just have to sit back and take it or look like bitter jerks lol.

This game is exactly like all the others. We couldn't close it out on offense, let a team hang around just long enough to come back in the fourth quarter. These last two weeks were on the offense. I can't imagine what we would have been like without Colandrea. He is a 100% gamer. Why won't Holgersen use a tight end, and where is or what happened to Rule?

Yeah I've called him fat a few times but I worried he would just distribute the ball to their playmakers and if that would be enough. It was :banghead:

Be blessed. This is second week in a row my internet is basically text level. I'm not going to fault a 4th quarter fade on anyone. The 10pm CST start pretty much assured that.

Glad it was a super late game and spared what was yet another heartbreaking loss. Really sucks since DR came in to get the "W" for the effing ducks.

Since I was blissfully asleep during the entire game, I've got no comments to offer. Not going to watch the lowlights since I don't like the final score.

Don't have a clue what needs to be done. If the powers that be really decide to reopen the coaching carousel, does anyone really think we'll be able to get a coach who is capable of turning the program around in the days of NIL $$$ and TP? I don't.

Anyway, just one thing to say:

GO BIG RED!!!

This coaching staff KNOWS that Raiola is a statute in the pocket and panics under pressure. So what does this staff do, the refuse to rush or blitz him. I cannot make any sense of this. If he beats us throwing off his back leg getting pushed to the ground each rep, I can take that. Allowing him to pretend he is an elite qb back there bc he has no pressure and is not rushed to make decisions is maddening.

Well, been out on a multi day several hundred mile bicycle ride so I’ve missed all the build up and goings on with NU football. Found a hotel just so I could watch the game, but still saw Dylan beat us on a last s second play. What a butt kick. Pay him 7 mil and put up with his uncles poor coaching and recruiting just to have him close the door and beat us

I’m still on board with this staff and Rhule, but don’t blame those who throw in the towel. This roller coaster ride is tough. I just don’t want to start all over again. I just wish the staff had been here for all four of Rhiles years., And their systems had been fully incorporated by now.

I’ll try and catch up when I get home, but today there was an individual I met on the ride and we were supposed to get together a couple of nights ago and go over some stuff, but I heard through the grapevine that he had crashed and is paralyzed so I want to try and find out more about that situation. The game was hard to take, but some things just make it seem like a game.

I'm not gonna dwell on last night or be too upset about a game where I didn't think we were going to win, despite the sunshine pumping. Up next: Washington, Illinois, Rutgers. That stretch on the schedule will give us a chance to get back on the winning track. They are all winnable games.

Sad truth is that both Indiana and Oregon should have been in the win column for the Huskers. I'm not calling for Rhule's head but not rushing DR is more than a head scratcher to me. Glad I went into the season with zero expectations so it's easier to deal with. Will the team with the 6th to bowl qualify? I sure hope so but I look at each of our remaining games and I just don't know which of those 5 are winnable. I'm about 99.9% sure that @Iowa is a loss.

Note to everybody here: It was expected to be tough, remember?

If you go back and review all the board's takes following last year's Penn State game until this season started, you'd swear there was No Chance in Hell for the Huskers in 2026.

You'd find scores of posts opining there was no way we could compete with the conference's 'Big Boys.' The general consensus was that, given our schedule, seven wins was our ceiling. The most optimistic among us said maybe, just maybe, there was an outside chance for eight if we got lucky.

There is nothing worse than blowout losses...but losing games you believe in your bones you should've won FEEL WORSE in the moment. BUT from a program perspective, the difference between them couldn't be more stark. We're good now. We've gone toe-to-toe with a couple teams I was confidently told we weren't worthy of holding their jock straps only five months ago.

Absolutely. No B1G game is easy, but Neb99 is right. And while it would have sounded like I was high on drugs back in June, it's not beyond the realm of possibility to opine that we could be sitting on eight wins BEFORE facing Ohio State and Iowa.

At the risk of being labeled a 'hopeless' sunshine pumper, I think everyone on the board would have happily accepted that prospect if it had been offered.
