So I've taken a lot of flack from posters because of comments I've made regarding Nebraska's play following the drubbings from Oregon, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.
The most recent by posters is mentioning how they played against Purdue. Yeah, they didn't quit, good for them. But where was this heart, pride, not quitting against the three teams who have blown us out? Where was this heart, fire, pride during those games?
I can handle Nebraska losing. If we play teams like Ohio State extremely tough, it goes down to the wire, and we play hard all game, and are in the game until the end...I can handle that.
But, when I see poor play, players taking snaps off, lazy technique, and half-speed effort, as this team is wont to do, then those are issues which need to be addressed.
The most difficult part is that there are clearly players who DO care, who DO play hard: JD Spielman, Stanley Morgan, Mick Stoltenberg, the Davis twins, etc. But the guys who play hard, their effort is negated by others who really don't care.
Calling me a bad fan, insulting me, and/or saying I'm using hyperbole, when literally everything I say is 100% true and easily visible with your own eyes, is disingenuous and possibly something else (I won't say that word because it could be construed as being "political").
Some Nebraska fans here need to stop candy-coating their assessment of this team. Nebraska is playing 1,000,000,000,000 times below their talent level (there's your hyperbole) and no amount chiding, insulting, or calling me "bad fan" is going to change that fact.
I will say this: If Nebraska wins out, then Mike Riley should be given one more year. But Nebraska going forward has got to start playing well, especially with Penn State and Iowa upcoming. We have got to get more physical, especially along the offensive front. 40 yards rushing against Purdue with a 1.5 average per attempt.
Nebraska is a terrible, non-physical, soft, finesse team whose players either quit or don't show up against the "big boys" on the schedule. That is the truth. That is reality. You may not like it, but address your comments to Mike Riley and this staff, because if the team was playing well, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Now...fire away.
