Ive caught a six or seven pound rainbow, but for taxidermy purposes id would be hard to beat a big tiger trout.......and im a taxidermy guy. Hey, and what fisherman hasn't imbelished the truth just a smig. Just ask me about my six pound trout next year..and it might by 7 pounds,,,,the next year eight pounds...etc.

embellishment... seems we have been getting that from more than just fish stories from what I have been reading.

I tell you what, you lose Doc, and there is nothing left on this board worth logging in to read. Sorry but that’s my truth. Most of the 90s maniacs are intolerable. The level of conceit and delusion is so great it is almost intolerable. Some people can’t bear to consider anything beyond their obsession. It isn’t flattering. Hope you stay, Doc.

Can you site some examples? I am also curious as to what you consider a "90s maniacs"

and that is the point.. nobody knows what Frost is going to do outside of Frost himself. No inside source, no friend, nothing.. all we have is sound bites at this point. People are grabbing to any word he says to find out his direction.

In the above article there is a level of ambiguity to it. He never comes out and says I am not leaving, he talks about keeping the coaches together.

EDIT: in my opinion Frost is not the only option either.. but we need that type of coach. Hard nosed, my way or the highway type of coach. Bo was that way but had other issues.

That last article I linked sounds like the writer is trying to convince himself (and his readers) that UCF is Frost's dream job and he will never leave

I agree, and there is a reason Frost has not come out and said "I am not leaving" but said "he wants the his coaches to stay together"

“We want to keep the band together. … It wouldn’t be as much fun for me to do my job without the guys I have around me.”

hmm, that could be taken to mean he would also want to bring his staff with him if he left. Different ways to look at things.

I can't speak for Deighved, but I can cite some things I've observed.

There's a vocal handful of posters who strongly advocate Scott Frost as a candidate for HC. They make a fair case for him. Doc apparently has strong feelings against this, and believes that SF doesn't want to be NU's coach. I don't have a dog in that fight.

Instead of allowing that to be a simple disagreement, that handful of posters has taken to questioning Doc's background. They've questioned his background, and the veracity of his posts (all the way down to the weight of a particular type of domestic gamefish). It offends them that he won't give them the details which form his views.

They seem to be taking it very personally, and making it very personal. They chime in on the same threads. Doc is clearly feeling a little harassed, and I can understand why.

Those posters need to tone in down, b/c they're dancing on the edge of the board's rules. They're probably violating the rules with some posts, but almost certainly violating the spirit of the rules with many posts.

This may be what Deighved is referring to. The posters I'm referring to might be the "90s maniacs". I can only speculate.

Seriously--what else could he say half way through the season--this will play out when it plays out--in November

GBR

Exactly. What do they expect him to say? "Gosh yeah, I can't wait to take a power 5 gig. Things aren't great at my alma matter, so hopefully they come calling soon."

Doc: "My sources indicate that Scott doesn't want the job"

Everyone else: "SO YOU LOVE MEDIOCRITY?!"

From the posts I have seen it isn't as simply as you are laying it out. Doc has said he will try to influence whoever he can to keep Frost from coming. That might be a driving factor, imo. I just recently noticed that Doc has been pushing kind of hard that he has sources and when people do that often times people don't believe it.

EDIT: not saying it is right or wrong, but when a person beats his chest others respond.

Spot on--

This BBS is for like-minded people to share opinions--I haven't seen anyone "attack" another poster for suggesting SF is the wrong guy--not experienced enough--whatever----

BUT when a poster tells others he is actively sabotaging SF as a candidate-- for some real or perceived slight 20+ years ago,-- he should tighten up his chinstrap, because there will be some shots coming his way--(and rightfully so)

I have stayed out of this conversation for a couple of reasons, namely, Doc is a big boy and can handle himself. But I will say this, I do consider Doc a friend and is a friend to my family. I do know for a fact that he is who he says he is and did in fact play for the Huskers and in fact is a Blackshirt.

I for one appreciate very much the zeal and intensity that he brings to this board and am thankful for the information he does share with us. With that, I will bow out and continue to read and follow along for what I hope to be promising days for our beloved program.

Then people should defend their position by staying on topic and stop attacking him personally by going after the size of a freaking fish. Really? What does the size of a fish have to so with Scott Frost?

Since I made a post about that, I will defend that post..

Sorry, but he made the post (and posters are allowed to comment about every part of the post made) about the size and since I already knew that would be world record size I questioned it.. That lends itself to story telling and starts to erode a persons credibility, IMO.

IMO, the fish talk was a nice swerve off of the Frost Train.

I certainly didn't mean to offend, just offered a some information from the Nebraska Game and Parks.

His posts are entertaining.

Maybe this question shouldn't be directed at you, but if Riley ends up not being retained after this season and someone advocates having one of the hot, young, up and coming coaching candidates on your short list of replacements, would that makes that person "a 90's maniac?"

Huskerfan2000;n154890 said:
and I disagree with this comment as well.. it isn't that simplistic.

A particular poster incited that exact sentiment when Doc stated his connections indicate Scott does not want the job.

I sense animosity coming from both sides. Doc has been quite vocal regarding his opinion of SF, and I understand that this may stem from his personal experience. At times, some of the reasoning Doc has used in defending his position seems to cross the line between professional and personal. And while I respect Doc's knowledge and experience quite a bit, the post outlining his resume seemed a bit condescending - something I don't think I've seen before from him.

In Doc's defense, there are a few SF supporters that pounce on anyone that posts any opinion other than that SF is the best thing since sliced bread and DoNU would be committing a mortal sin if they didn't deliver an armored vehicle full of cash to the Savior of Nebraska YESTERDAY.

The bottom line for me is that there are no guarantees or perfect candidates. All I want is a coaching staff that has integrity, can develop and motivate the talent we do have, offer solid offensive and defensive schemes, manage games with solid game plans and in-game adjustments, and recruit quality student athletes.

It's Frost or Bust for a lot of Husker fans and I just hope that if Frost is NOT the next head coach, there wouldn't be a lot of animosity amongst the fanbase because they didn't get their guy.
