I was fortunate to cross paths with Sir Patrick twice - once for a work project and the second time in London.
Great stories, great memories. You can argue that he single-handedly resurrected Star Trek, giving it much-needed gravitas. But he was so much more that Captain of the Enterprise.

This is a must listen every Christmas:

That’s awesome that you got to meet him, Chris. He also seemed like the consummate gentleman who also happened to land some iconic roles. His work with rescue animals also raised him in my estimation. RIP, JLP!

Quick story - was hanging out with him over a glass of wine while he was in Minnesota for a long run at the Guthrie Theater. He and his new wife Wendy were staying at a rented house out in my neck of the woods. It was a very snowy and cold winter and Sir Patrick excitedly told me that "Today, we walked on a... frozen river!" He went on marveling about it, calling it "exhilarating." He then asked me, "But I have a question... where do all the fish go??" I told him - they're still there, right in the river. He was incredulous. "You mean - their frozen? Hibernating?" I had to chuckle and explain that no, it's just the top of the river that's frozen... he got very serious and asked how deep it was there. I said, about 30-40ft. He went white, grabbed my arm firmly and said he would NEVER have taken Wendy out there if he had known they could fall in.

Not my photo, but this was the production of Waiting for Godot we went to with Stewart, Ian McKellen and Simon Callow.

That was a GREAT story, Chris!

Sir Patrick was one of my all-time favorite actors. For all the much-deserved hype the original series got in reruns back in the 70s, to me the franchise became what it became because of Roddenberry's ST:TNG and the dignity and gravitas that Stewart brought to Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

I have but one thing to say:

Make it So, Number One.

Always thought both Jean Luc and Number One were gorgeous, don't usually go for chrome domes but something about Stewart was just, "yeah, baby". Not sure why.
