Reaction Ohio

LOL, NC!!! But I'm thinking being 'too hyped' might be different if you're a DT versus an RB. :)
It's funny though, because what Nelson was describing was exactly what was shown all the time back when the coach's show was an hour long, you'd see stuff from the locker room, on-field warm-ups, and lots of guys amongst all position groups would be screaming "IT'S GAME TIME! IT'S GAME TIME" mixed with some incoherent noises, presumably speaking in tongues from the demons within :happy0064: Not saying it's the main thing that wins football games, but. . .maybe ;scared

From innmc's post (#43)...

Ohio running backs accounted for only 55 yards on 18 rushing attempts.

This ^^ is one of the most encouraging aspects from yesterday's game. Yes, I know the opponent was Ohio, but think back to last year's opener versus Cincinnati. Against the Bearcats, Nebraska's rush defense gave up 202 yards and a whopping 6.7 yards per carry.

To go from giving up an average of 6.7 yards per carry versus Cincinnati in 2025, to only giving up 3 yards per carry versus Ohio in the 2026 opener is an exponential improvement.

For a more one-to-one comparison, against Cincinnati, Nebraska allowed 106 yards on 17 carries to non-QB carriers, while the Gambler accounted for 13 carries and 96 yards. So one more carry but 51 less yards to running backs, and also didn't let Poulos go AS nuts as Sorsby did, pretty ok.

Severe did a pretty good job of not saying too much right until the end. Then he felt the need to tell us French AND GERMAN were Romance languages.:banghead:

I'm certainly not Tolkien or a Linguistics expert, but even I know German is NOT a "romance" language.

I didn't like the slow start - but after the 1st quarter it felt like the way the game should have played out. Hopefully we learn, improve and are ready kick the absolute crap out of Bowling Green.

Jamal Rule is the kind of player, and players, Nebraska need(s): Rated 3*, plays like a 5*.
Reminds me of another former 3-star RB.

As I recall, Aaron Green was a much-ballyhooed freshman RB coming in as a true freshman in 2011. He didn't get any hype, but we had also another true freshman play RB for us that year that we'd heard was tearing up camp and would be seeing some PT.

Just like Jamal Rhule last week, I remember Ameer Abdullah's debut. You could tell immediately that Ameer had something special about him. I remember telling my son that our Alabama kid looks better than Green.

Green realized it right away too--and transferred the following year. :)

Don't forget Ameer also had to content with Braylon Heard who was a part of the recruiting class the year prior (2010). Heard would eventually transfer to Kentucky (seems to be a trend LOL).
