Pre-Black Friday Thoughts

I questioned Purdy being nailed to the bench all year and the answer I got was he's been injured and couldn't play.
Sure, and then the last possession against Maryland he had a miracle cure.

I don't want coaches to be fired for making mistakes and bad judgment, I want to see them own up to it and learn. No dumb excuses.
I said before the season I thought Rhule had neglected doing anything about the most important position on the team, to which I was chastised by a certain poster for even suggesting such a thing. Lo and behold we suffered all year for bad judgment at the qb position.
Now, rumor is, just a rumor, Rhule is looking to add two portal qb's. That's good, and I say that really liking Purdy but bad things happen. And it's a delicate thing. Bring in competition and some players take it personally. I'd be remorse in not adding the portal and NIL is screwing everything that's good about college ball.

This sounds like a broken record, but I continue to be impressed by the candor and the quality of information we get from Coach Rhule each week during the season.

Also---one post-presser comment from Rhule to answer our boy, Mrjfb:
(RE: Luke Fickell) Unexplainably gets paid less than Matt Rhule.(Kudos to Matt's agent, Boooo to our AD's negotiation skills)
Coach Rhule: "You can't have middle-of-the-conference support and resources yet expect top of the conference results."

Body language. His physical effort is there are times but other times it borders on ridiculous. He ran a route Saturday night in which he was literally jogging and didn't even have his head up.
Are you talking about the trickeration in the second quarter?

He was OBVIOUSLY trying to make the defender think he wasn’t part of the play and he played his part perfectly. If not for an alert WI linebacker, MC15 had a walk- in TD as he was open by 15 yards

Purdy has said he may need to have surgery. So I guess he is also involved in the Q anon QB conspiracy.

Doc? Is that you?

He sure tricked me. The whole blanken season has been full of tricks I guess.
Record vs P5, 4-6. Last year we had 3 P5 wins.
Wins against winning teams.
Last year-1
This year-1 with one game left.

Quit acting like it's all going great. Get a grip on reality. Quit falling out of your chair everything Rhule opens his mouth.
If we die, we die sounds pretty stupid right now. But it was trumped by if you did an autopsy you'd find us as healthy as we can be.
Good Lord. Did Yogi Berra come up with that?

After you busted on MC15 for no reason, you decided that was going nowhere, so changed the subject and started in AGAIN on Ruhle

Does your agenda have no bounds?

Where did you dream up that I said that? My take is that we're off to a good start. After the crap I've lived through the previous SIX years, this one has been encouraging. I could have sworn most fans were optimistically predicting a 6-6 record. Am I wrong about that? A win on Black Friday and we're there.
Quit falling out of your chair everything Rhule opens his mouth.
If an 'Average Joe' fan like me is impressed by our head coach, I suspect there are a few stud players and parents out there who are equally impressed. I always thought recruiting is a huge part of a rebuild, am I wrong?

It does? For the record, it wasn't said to impress you. Me thinks it will sound pretty sweet if we beat Iowa Friday.
But it was trumped by if you did an autopsy you'd find us as healthy as we can be.
He was talking about the culture being built here. Unless you're inside the team's locker room, you have no clue where the culture is. Granted, I don't either. But I see an outmanned, turnover-plagued team that's been playing physical, hard-nosed football that's trying to get 'over the hump.' We've got one more shot. Cue the Rocky music Friday morning and go do it, baby!

IF WE DIE, WE DIE!!!! :CORN:

Ok, but please explain to me doing an autopsy on our program, so we're dead?. Generally something dead isn't healthy.
Also, the criticism of our sports program publicly was in poor taste. And what specifically does he think we should throw more money at? Him?

Coach Rhule wasn't talking about our program, he was speaking in general about Tony White taking a HC'ing gig.

After being extraordinarily complimentary of Tony and publicly stating he'd make a great HC, he added that the key for Tony is being choosey and finding the right HC job. He said some programs (he wasn't talking about Nebraska) have high expectations yet will only give their coach middle-of-the-pack resources to achieve them.

My understanding is Purdy didn't heal enough to be able to run like he did last week until the start of November. HH being unavailable I am sure made the coaches take a hard look at playing him. He is still not 100% and likely will have off season surgery. Not sure what the re-hab looks like but doubt he's available for Sprint ball. Hopefully he sticks around for next season - he seems like a good fit as a dual threat QB. Not sure he can be "the guy" but we need depth at QB - when they unload Sims - we should still have HH (who might play another position at times) and Chubba and I would guess at least 2 new QBs on the roster.

HH should become our Taysom Hill
