Post Maryland Thoughts

Lots of crap penalties but we did earn some. However the game changed on that Pick 6 by McDougle. Happened right in front of me too. Then with 1:56 or so left in the 1st half and no timeouts and we scored the go ahead TD with 5 seconds left. Incredible game management and play calling us the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Maryland helped.

This team is different between the ears this year. Aurich has sold me on his ability to in game adjust when things are going bad.

We need Rule back for Indiana and AC's mobility is the #1 reason we are 5-0. The amount of sacks he has avoided and his uncanny knack to make quick decisions passing or running. The OL is head and shoulders better than we've had in awhile. Which means they ar average but not horrible. The DL gets pressure and Aurich knows when to bring the blitzing LBers and they have the speed to get the job done.

I do believe we can beat Indiana but we have to play a clean game and get a few breaks. If we pull off the upset we'll be 6-0 and deserve to be ranked. Right now we haven't earned being ranked IMO. GBR!

Pass blocking is above average. Run blocking is a work in progress - BUT we move guys we just don't consistently block as a unit (we let someone leak way too often). Not always the oline - TEs, WRs part of the problem and part of the solution.

First half (mostly first quarter) was not good. Second quarter comeback was great. Knew we were going to win the game at that point. Feel really good about the defense and the DC's ability to adjust.

Penalties are still bad. Everybody contributes to the penalties for some reason.

Don't understand why we didn't get to or decided not to try the missed PAT when Maryland was penalized for roughing the center. I don't think roughing the center can be a dead ball foul, so it had to happen during the play (actually within a second of snapping the ball). If during the play, certainly would have thought we would have the option of assessing the penalty on the try. Half the distance to the goal and retry the PAT. Anybody hear anything on this?

Rhule said in today's presser that he was told by the official talking to him that the extra point was good. He said it was "on him" because he shouldn't have to reply on the refs but that's why we took the penalty on the kickoff.
You guys and gals did a helluva job bringing it home like I asked of you when I left chat.
Michigan State was my first opportunity to see the BHF Shoutbox this season in action. The 'usual suspects' were there in full force. While It was my first time experiencing the BHF Shoutbox in person this year, I left the Shoutbox impressed with the team's quality depth and improved grammar.
