Interesting post from Oregon board. This is something we all knew about DR and his predictability. Now you hear grumblings from the Duck pond. Interesting they also say what we have been saying for years about more use of TE and using shotgun on short yardage situations.

QBs like DR will thrive and excell with an elite OL. Every elite OL will face an elite DL, especially in playoff teams. It makes the job easier for a great D to go against a predictable QB like DR. We experienced that last year with DR. Maybe DR will rip us this weekend, but our D won’t have to account for him to run wild. A running QB has been our Bugaboo. Play good pass D, disguise some blitzes, have disciplined lane responsibilities on their run game, I like our chances.IMG_0626.jpeg

I don't hate the guy the way others do. Am I a bad fan?
I don't hate him. I don't much like him though. Basically, I couldn't care less what he does except when he plays us.
I was a Dylan fan until I heard that Papa Raiola demanded Rhule fire Dylan's QB coach. You expect prima donna players and prima donna parents at this level (that why coaches get paid to deal with it) but that one seriously crossed the line in my book.

I also look back NOW at DR in a different light. Maybe it is colored by his departure, maybe not. But I used to view his 'front and center' on Tunnel Walks as a sign of his leadership. But seeing how Ant has chosen to blend in with his linemen instead of duplicating Dylan's behavior reminds me this is a team game. It has simultaneously given me more respect for Colandrea and gives me the impression DR was a glory hog.

The fact that Coach Rhule RETURNED to his long-standing practice of game captains this year vs season captains after Dylan (and we're told, 'others') asked him to name captains before the first game also tells me a lot about our former QB.

Dylan was well-spoken and represented us well but it doesn't take a football guru to see we're much better this year without him.

I'll focus on the football side. DR's lack of mobility (including moving in the pocket - just not good at it), slow decision making and refusal to throw balls inside the hash marks downfield really limited the offense. His pre-snap reads I think were OK - given what Dana has said. Although giving the ball to EJ is a good idea anytime you can do it.

When DR threw passes over the middle down the field - it felt like it was 50/50 an INT was going to happen. Those floaty deep passes are weird but damned if he didn't hit on those enough I understood why he tried it. He was pretty accurate if he was in a relatively clean pocket - that didn't happen much given the oline issues the last 2 seasons.

Intangibles for QBs are really important. I'd rate AC10's intangibles as a pretty large upgrade over DR. We have to keep trying to move AC10 around so he's not "in the trees" making passes - Dana has shown he understands that - but IU was able to take much of that away in the 2nd half the game. Other defenses will see that try to do the same. Dana has to figure out how to make them pay for that.

Great point, Jim! Stats are important but so are the intangibles.

The overall quality of coaching is one of the ways the B1G distinguishes itself from our old Big 8/XII days. I trust Dana as much as anyone to figure out in advance how to counter what defenses counter with.

Oregon has a better OL than we did last year but our DL is much better this year under Aurich than it was under Butler. If Aurich can dial up timely blitzes, DR has zero chance of evading them and getting the ball off. Brock Thomas would be better than DR against us.

It's personal preference. I can't stand him, and as probably every knows, I was never a fan. He seemed completely entitled from day one.

But there is nothing wrong with taking the higher road.

I think we can all agree that we want the Huskers to legally beat the crap out of him if he plays.

It's not necessarily a "high road". imo, he's just a former Husker, 'cuz it didn't pan out. It happens.

Didn't have a lot of predisposition when he arrived. Don't know jack abt what Dom did or didn't say to this guy or that guy about this guy or that guy. I've read a boatload of speculation, but I still don't know.

Maybe I am a bad fan. dambit!

But, yeah. Let's beat his team, and that includes him! gbr
