No one tackles Wandale Robinson!

Its a urban myth hes locked to osu.
As long as urbs calling the shots, that offense suffers, and I think Wandale is putting a few things together

‘Immediate Playing Time’ Will Be Factor In Wandale Robinson’s College Choice But Distance Will Not Be
I think he likes what Mo is bringing his freshman year.

Western Hills ends regular season play Friday by hosting Harrison County before opening the Class AAA playoffs at Lawrence County Nov. 2. Robinson has averaged 10.4 yards per run and has 1,560 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. He’s completed eight of 10 passes for 173 yards — 21.5 yards per completion — and caught 17 passes for 367 yards — 22 yards per catch — and seven scores. He also has two kick returns for touchdowns and one interception for another touchdown. He leads the state with 214 points. If that’s not enough, he has a team-high 85 tackles.

This young man sure seems like a big time D1 player waiting to happen. I haven't really followed his story, or really any recruiting this season for that matter. Is there any concern of drama with him? I read where he wanted immediate playing time, and that he is having a press conference to announce his choice. I didn't know if was the type to do all the hats on the table gig, and soak in all the attention he can find. Some of that is fine, but some of these guys get a little to self absorbed. Hopefully, if there aren't any issues, he comes here and causes nightmares for the rest of the BIG10 for many games to come......

In that link, his dad said it doesnt matter where he plays, he wants to play early.
But also, his dad and Wandale want the right fit, culture, coaches teamates etc.
I believe he can help us out the gate, in various ways, which will be up to him.
They, he and his family have done their research, who actually plays freshmen, how much depth, etc as well.
Those comments , to me anyways, sound like he wants a straight shooter coach, one who plays freshmen, and an open spot to compete in, which also may mean, everyone gets a shot.
The above favor us, no doubt about it.
He seems like every other kid whos had to handle 'greatness' at an early age, and loves the game more than the hype imo.

Might have been persuaded to switch to Kentucky...
Well, the SEC schools generally do have some pretty substantial signing bonuses, from what I hear. Wads of cash, cars, houses for parents..... :evilgrin0007:

Yes it does appear the home team is the favorite now. Unfortunate for us in regards to Kentucky having their best season season since forever. I guess there is less shame in losing one to the home team and at least he isn't going to be a Buckeye or in conference where we would be facing him the next 3-4 years. Would have been nice to see in N though!

So, he says it "came down to trust". Did Frost and staff do something to erode his trust? I'm sure our buddy Marrow promised him anything he wanted to get him to sign there. It sounds like he made a giant production about his choice too, of which I'm not a fan. But, whatever, on to the next man!

There's two narratives being spun at the moment (all under the guise that Wandale committed to Nebraska within the last week):

- From Nebraska's side: one of Wandale's handlers called the staff late Wednesday night and asked if Nebraska could match or beat the offer that Kentucky was putting out. Frost told the handler that Nebraska's recruitment of Wandale was, effectively, over. This has been pushed by both Jim Rose and Sean Callahan.

- From Kentucky's side: Frost promised Wandale that JD would be switching positions next year, and that Wandale could have his starting spot. Wandale called Frost on Wednesday to be reassured that this was still the case, and Frost essentially told him that Frost never made that promise. Wandale then committed to Kentucky. This is being pushed by Kentucky's Rivals site.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Our old friend Vince Marrow probably got deep into Wandale's ear in the 11th hour about staying at home, starting next year and being a local hero for an up and coming program, as opposed to going 700 miles away and being a cog for a 2-6 program. Wandale or someone in his camp probably called the staff to get some assurances regarding playing time, and Frost told him that "nothing is promised, everything is earned", which would spur Wandale to committing to UK. The answer will probably be found in the upcoming months if Nebraska chooses to continue recruiting Wandale, or if they shut off contact and move on.

Interesting....If it was a "handler" that made contact, then that sure reeks of impropriety. If it was a change of heart, wouldn't Wandale just call Frost and tell him he switched, like most other recruits would do? If Wandale wanted "assurances" of playing time, then I'm guessing he wasn't a good fit here anyhow. Oh well, I think we need some big time OL and DL guys before a guy like Wandale anyhow, so now we have an open scholarship! Thanks for the info, cdog!

Definitely some shenanigans going on here. You aren't a heavy lean for an out of state college then all of a sudden say yes to an instate school. Just doesn't happen unless some shenanigans were going on to keep him in state.
