New AD Thread

I agree he is more than qualified. Would it be a bad look for Bounds and Green if they didn’t go through the process that they publically laid out? Or is it overlooked because it is Dave R?

Honestly no. If you find the right person you hire them. Even if you didn't do a national search. However since Rimington is in New York, technically it would be a national search! :biggrin-new:

Both Rimington and Alberts would be plays towards both nostalgia and the fanbase, rather than a play at finding the best candidate possible. I would rather they go after a big name with experience running a D-1 athletic department, with a strong preference to those athletic departments with strong football programs.

Yes, Interim... Bounds also confirmed announcement coming this week yesterday afternoon. Have also put out feelers to a permanent candidate, along w/ interim guy, even though they're still hiring search firm. Looks like they'll also do a full round of interviews w/in AD as well - possibly trimming some fat? Lots of AAD's added and/or given some nice chunks of change under ADSE; some good, some, well I assume they'll disappear.

It's rather eye-opening that, if they do go the interim route, that no one in the current AD will be elevated to the position. Says a lot about how some of ADSE's hires are looked upon.

So Big Red Emperor you are saying that Remington is going to be announced as the interim AD by lunch time Wednesday?

Just judging by what I've seen and read today, it kinda sounds like Nebraska will pay some money for their next AD. I hope that's the case. Part of me hope they take their time and hire the best candidate out there but another part of me wishes this doesn't drag out too long either.

Everyone's favorite OWH writer around here Lee Barfknecht had a piece the other day noting that Nebraska has 10 associate athletic directors. Ten! I had no idea Nebraska had that many associate athletic directors. That is eye opening.

I've seen rumblings on a couple of different message boards that Del Conte is our guy.

I would put 0% faith in said rumor, just passing it along.

Lots of rumblings indicating that is indeed the case.

Del Conte apparently is catching some serious heat at TCU and creating a huge divide in the alumni currently.
Not sure NU would want him and from what I was told over Del Conte's decision to move a game to Texas Stadium next against OSU.

A lot of rumors flying around but one I heard regarding Del Conte is that he was very interested but when word leaked he got pissed and posted that response on Twitter. If that is the case I am not sure if he is still open to the move or if that was a dealbreaker...

We Husker fans cost ourselves pretty good chances at great A.D.'s, coaches, etc by not keeping our traps shut. I hope his statement is false and he had to say that to quiet the masses at TCU, etc.

well, it could just be a rumor. doesn't take much to get one started. plus he's at or near the top of most lists.

regardless, it's probably not the fans' fault... if it's a true leak it's the fault of the search firm or someone within NU athletics/regents...

There have been leaks and rumors for the past 16 years by Husker fans "not keeping their traps shut" - why are the fans the blame this time?...haha!

Whoever leaked the info was someone from inside the Athletic Dept in effect a FAN. LOL. And of course that person told yet some more fans until it got to the media who wants the fans to know. Then the rest of us fans spread the rumor, falsity, or truth. :Herbie:

I'd assume that within the people involved in the process of hiring a new AD there are two main camps - 1. It has to be a former Husker or someone tied the program prior or 2. It can be anyone.
I'm hoping that we don't have someone involved in the process that is leaking info because it's not the route they want to go.
We've already had multiple denials from people on both sides so hopefully this doesn't turn teats up on us. It doesn't need to be rushed.
