Meet the 2021-22 Nebraska men's basketball team

I am pumped for this Nebrasketball season, I hesitate to say it but I have higher expectations for them than I do the football team for possibly the first time ever. Imagine the recruiting momentum they will have if the reach the dance in March.

Excitement will reach a new level when I get my season tickets mailed to me this week. Hoiberg has some dudes. If players can find and accept roles to build positive chemistry, I think we will be pretty good.

I realize that these social media mash-ups are a little cheesy, but players eat them up. Nebraska basketball does social media so well, light years ahead of our football program.

Would like to have high expectations but the B10 is going to be tough to handle. Don't think things will be as bad as most experts are projecting but being close to .500 in conference would be really good season in my opinion. Right now seeing projections anywhere from 2-6 conference wins.

.500 would be great, .500 in the Big 10 possibly gets them in the tournament.

I think .500 in Big 10 gets them in tourney but that is way above expectations.
Alonzo Verge looked really good running the point but also have to consider opponent. Will have better idea after Colorado exhibition on Sunday. And tough to make judgement after 1 or 2 games. See what things look like after 6 or 7 regular season games before we will know and that may not be enough.

I agree with this. There are so many pieces, they have 11, maybe 12 legitimate power 5 players. It's going to take 10-12 games (at least) before roles are carved out and defined. I think you will see this team both struggle bus one game and then turn around and run a good team out of the gym the next. The hope is that by January 25th vs Wisconsin at the PBA, we are finely tuned and ready to make a run the final 11 games. Including that game, the next 5 goes Wisconsin, Rutgers, @ Michigan, Northwestern, Minnesota. That's a very manageable stretch that could build some momentum and put us above .500 in conference play.

Huskers get 82-67 win over Colorado in 2nd exhibition. Tough to not get excited about this team the way they can shoot the ball. Thought I saw that 6 guys made a 3. I think Verge is the key guy. He looks to have the ability to beat anyone off the dribble and with all the shooters to spread the floor he doesn't seem to mind dishing the ball off when help gets to him. He already has a nice thing going with Walker also. This team seems to have the offensive firepower to compete it will come down to defense and rebounding. As rebounding was major issue as Cu got way to many offensive boards .Season officially opens on November 9th versus Western Illinois.

I was there to check out my new seats haha. That first half was fun to watch. Tad Boyle did a good job (as he often does) gumming up the game in the 2nd half. It caused us to play some hero ball and Colorado capitalized a bit. That's still a double digit win against a pretty good CU team though.

Nebraska will be fighting this rebounding problem all season long. It's not that we can't rebound, we could play big inside, battle on the block, and hold our own against quite a few teams. That's now how we are choosing to play though. If we even want to be an average rebounding team this year, our wings are going to have to help...a lot.
