I was watching the first episode of the HBO Max series, "Lanterns", Sunday night when the Green Lantern was quizzing an alien about his knowledge of Nebraska by asking about the Huskers' first national championship. The alien correctly answered 1970 and Bob Devaney but failed to answer other questions. This first season of the series is set in Rushville, Nebraska, and Sheridan County. It appears that they did no location filming in Nebraska. Piru, California is standing in for Rushville. I know Piru very well as I used to go fishing there.

On the premier of the show's season finale tonight, Matt Rhule made a cameo appearance playing himself and offered the QB of the Rushville Pioneers a scholarship to attend Nebraska.

On the premier of the show's season finale tonight, Matt Rhule made a cameo appearance playing himself and offered the QB of the Rushville Pioneers a scholarship to attend Nebraska.

I saw that. Matt Rhule--TV star! I was just getting ready to post it. Rhule was first seen in the stands and then later walked on to the field and gave the 5-star QB, Noah Macon, a Husker hat. Noah is not human and may be the "big bad" in a season 2 of "Lanterns" if it gets the go ahead. It probably will as the ratings have been very good.

Just to follow up. Co-creators Chris Mundy and Tom King have Nebraska connections. Mundy is from Omaha and King's paternal grandparents are from the Rushville and Gordon areas.
