Jurgens already with #1 unit

Am I surprised that Cam is starting center? No. Am I surprised that he is starting center for THIS game? Absolutely.
I am surprised too but that’s only because we’ve all been kept in the dark about the extent of Cam’s foot injury and his rehab. But that doesn’t mean that Frost and Austin haven’t been up-front with Cam, Will, and their OL teammates all along. I’m now thinking that the coaches wanted to be extra-safe and give Cam’s foot extra rehab time while preparing Will to be the back-up.

Keep in mind that the only person I’ve heard Scott give “Martinez-level” praise to is Cam. So if Frosty and Austin believe he’s ready to roll, I’m inclined to believe them.

That makes two of us. The mystery around Cam's foot injury would make Agatha Christie jealous.

We know in spring, it was Cam, we also know some praise was heaped on Will by the coaches, and that the media ran with that, as the secretive level and extent of Cams injuries were basically ignored by our sloth er um sleuth media

HCSF said in his comments that there was a big difference with Cam in there. I knew he was going to be fine. Hope he can stay healthy.

It was asked and stated earlier if Cam was going to make camp.
He was already expected in the 110, and he's only missed contact, with this in mind, maybe Green shouldnt play either then....

I had heard we were getting Uttered in camp.
Without further explanation, I believe that doesnt happen with Cam, just mho

This. When the coach says the offense looks different with Jurgens at Center that speaks to everything we need to know that young Farniok isn't the answer at center. We will need to get Piper developed as our future backup center until Jurgens graduates.

Keep in mind Farniok is a redshirt frosh himself. Lots of opportunities to improve
He didn't come here a big kid like his brother. Give him another year under this S and C.

Sorry, but I took that quote entirely different. It wasn't Farniok isn't the answer, it was that Jurgens is a special talent.
Will isnt the guy, yet. He's young and can be as said, but those guys were getting pan caked at times.
Cam certainly wont let that happen, he may get beat, but not flattened.
Both Will and AJ will get there, but they simply need time.
I look at it as, a highly rated player can be plug n play, maybe rough around the edges, but for the most part, is already to size strength, but is usually quicker and faster too than lower rated players, and the bigger the size, the wider the ability, comparatively.

Cam isnt fully grown into his best playing weight yet either, but has a much much better frame to work with, though both he and Will were similar in weight.
Cam certainly takes to his added weight much better, but also not just from his frame, but the aforementioned athleticism as well.

He will have an athletic advantage on most guys he faces, with few stronger as well, he should be faster than all of them, possibly quicker too.
This alone puts him in that range where Oregon hung, but again, he isnt fully to size yet.
He can work well in the system, and potentially become great going forwards.

Speed kills in todays game. He was a great blocking tight end in high school. He played tight end because ho could run some as well. Pulling from the center position was mentioned fondly from Frost when practiced started a couple of weeks ago. It all about speed IMO. He who gets there first usually wins.

I think there is validity to the above statement. When Scott's offense starts humming the way he wants EVERYBODY better be able to move. It doesn't mean he has shirked strength and power imo, but if you aren't mobile, I think he will find someone who is.

What oregon had was speed, not just at the skill positions.
They needed it to simply make their offense go, our offense.

The difference is, we will also have the power this time round.
He didnt mean at skill positions when he said he wanted to combine the two.

Problem was, when he'd shown up, we'd wandered so far from Husker power, he almost had to start from scratch.

Didn’t see that coming. SF says when healthy he’s the best blocker on the team. Just hope line chemistry isn’t affected since he hasn’t been working with any unit much less the first unit. But trust the coaches!
