Johnny Rodgers in Omaha ICU with Covid-19

Ding, ding, ding.

I got a series of 6 Anthrax while in the Army, so when someone gets stupid about shots, I ask them if they've been protected from anthrax.

The shot is effing meaningless at this stage. California is wrapped up tighter than a hermetically sealed salmon. And they are totally mandated for you name it.

Nebraska; however, is fully open as far as I know, and at last results had the 3rd lowest Covid death rates /100,000, whereas Cali. was around 27th or so.

Natural immunity is ALL they had for the bubonic when it hit. I'm not trying to be callous, and those who want to vax and mask will, but the sooner we stop moving the goalposts and live with this like the flu and go about our lives, the faster we'll get over it.

BTW.. I got my 3rd(booster)

I know some on this board where around for the black death but I wasn't born yet. Maybe some of those alive then can enlighten us on some of the medical advancements they have seen in there lifetimes to give us some prospective on where we where and where we are now.:wave2:

In general things are more open nationally then when the S hit the F last year. So I think we have gotten a little more rational about what is allowed. Is California an exception - probably. Lockdowns aren't going to happen again unless hospitals get completed overwhelmed - we are close to that here in MN. Best way to stay out of a hospital is vaccination and appropriate mask use - not lockdowns. Seems like GIJoeRed and I agree on the vaccination bit.

The third dose increases immunity, so after the fourth dose you are protected. Once 80% of the
population has received the fifth dose; the restrictions can be relaxed as the sixth dose stops the virus from spreading.
I am calm and believe that the seventh dose will solve our problems and we have no reason to fear the eighth dose. The clinical phase of the ninth dose confirms that the antibodies remain stable after the tenth dose. The eleventh dose guarantees that no new mutations will develop, so there is no longer any reason to criticize the idea of the twelfth dose.
I heard that Dr Fauci said if you wear 5 masks, don't go to church, and don't attend family gatherings you won't need the 11th booster. However it's okay to crowd our 80000 butts into Memorial stadium on Saturdays.

This is very interesting:
Pretty reasonable take IMHO - many more COVID vaccines are in the pipeline along with the anti-virals for COVID - those need to be prioritized as approariate. Is some of how this has played out revenue driven for pharma - absofreakinglutely.

I agree…It’s nice to listen to an actual experts perspective stripped away from political and media manipulation. In my opinion, I think JR fits the bill on people who should take the vaccine. Aaron Rodgers who’s in his athletic prime can weigh the risks. I think that is the common sense approach. Natural immunity is effective just like with all other viruses.

Incorrect information-- all I'll say about that.

A very recent study done in Israel indicates natural immunity is better than vaccine. There is a slight increase to immunity if natural followed up by vaccine. However, they suggested to wait some time (I don't recall if it was 6 weeks or 6 months) before getting the vaccine if you had Covid.

6 weeks is the guidance we received. If you have had COVID and have gotten all 3 injections is the best case scenario according to what I've read (multiple sources).

Seriously, let’s move on from this line of discussion. Every time this thread has a new post I worry it means that Johnny died.

Which means that if you get it and live through it,,,,living through it is the operative here.

Except with Covid, you're more likely to die without ever becoming immune through natural antibody building. And we still don't know what the long term effects of Covid will be. We still don't know how those who weren't vaccinated and contracted Covid how it will affect them 5, 10, 20+ years later. I tend to think those who weren't vaccinated and got Covid are going to suffer a much higher likelihood of getting other diseases in the future. (That is merely my take, have nothing empirical to back it up though.) For example, Chicken Pox is another viral disease which leaves behind herpes zoster aka shingles. Covid, I am guessing, may also leave behind a virus that goes inactive but could onset as people's immune system weakens with age or they get another disease. Lots of research and testing still needs to be done.
