it was brought up on a pod cast......

Mobile QBs will mask bad OLines. Heck just watch any Husker game with Taylor Martinez, Tommy Armstrong, Adrian Martinez. TJ will do the same thing. Probably a big reason why we've been so poor at recruiting good OTs over the past 15 plus years.

One of the biggest recruiting changes I have seen in the last 20 years is the evolution of the QB position. Used to be you had a choice to make: an accurate passer with the foot speed of a turtle, or a runner whose pass might miss the broad side of a barn. Now, just about every QB can do both, throw accurately and run.

Just about. Those programs that have an accurate QB that is not mobile are at a huge disadvantage.
Now...yes. a few years ago, No. Go back and see who all the QBs were at Bama, Mac Jones and a couple others. Even look at Georgia and Stetson Bennett IV. He was a walkon twice for Georgia. And yes Bama has had some Mobile QBs as well. They just enhanced their chances to win.

Mobile QB is the blue plate special today

I think the lack of bulk on the defensive line is not by choice - it is hard to recruit the few elite DTs that are available each year. Even more so find one in the portal.

Offensively - we haven't lacked stars or bodies - we've lacked results. Especially at OT. Injuries are compounding the problem but we got WHIPPED by Michigan with pretty much everyone available. There was pretty clear messaging from the offensive coaches they felt good about the offensive line going into this season - clearly they didn't read the tea leaves correctly.

I do think Rhule HAS to make changes starting with Unc R getting moved out (or maybe to a staff position......if he really wants to stay around with DR15 - OK - but we need better results and I suspect he would agree given the number of sacks DR15 has taken including getting his leg broken). Guessing his brother isn't a big fan of what has happened so far with the oline when Dylan as started at QB.

In both cases - short of just buying talent in the portal - there probably isn't a quick fix. Hoping coaching changes reflect these priorities and they do some meaningful upgrades to get the program where it needs to be. B1G football seems to befuddle every coach we bring to Lincoln - Rhule knows how to run a program but he's missed on some of the details - like getting your lines where they need to be.

Even if we lose out including the bowl and finish 6-7 Rhule isn't going anywhere. He seems much more willing to make changes than our last few coaches in Lincoln - hopefully he gets it right sooner than later.

We got whipped by Minnesota, but I don't feel we fall into that category with Michigan at all. Unless you are talking purely the OL (giving up 7 sacks)

Of course, we were missing 2 starting OL for most of the MN game. (Injury and ejection)

No Rhule isnt going anywhere this season. But if we end the season 6-7 his seat will definitely be a little warmer starting next season. And if we start slow you will see it continue to warm. Fans wont be satisfied just making a bowl game for very long.

Never take making any bowl game for granted. I won't ever again. After 8 straight seasons of not making one, I'll always be happy we make a bowl. Yes I will want them to make better games every year and even make the playoffs but first we need to be in bowl games every year first.

Bowl games are good exposure. And extra practices which we haven't done in a long long time prior to last year. But just so long as there is progress to get out of mediocrity. Iowa fans are already saying we are as good as we are going to get I am hoping the men of corn say otherwise (fingers crossed).

I'm not taking anything for granted. But there is no way that HUSKER fans will settle for 6 wins and a bowl game for very long.

After 8 straight years of not making a bowl game Husker fans will be quite satisfied consistently making a bowl game for a few years. Once we establish that consistency of making one every year, then yes they will want more than just being bowl eligible.

Disagree. We are already hearing people bitching about Rhule. Right here on this board. We are hearing people bitching about our DC and OC who are in their first year in their positions. After this season there will be no more wiggle room. Another 6-6 season next year will not sit well with MOST HUSKER fans.
