Adding the defensive lineman Jordan Ochoa from Colorado this morning makes you wonder how many more we can add because the numbers don't add up roster wise. I know, I know defensive lineman you never turn there, but at what point do we have to shut the door? I thought we were already done. How many players are going to be off scholarship and put on NIL that are already on the roster? Experts on the situation please help out here.

Good question. I know there's a sticky thread here tracking scholarships, you could check that.

But yeah, in terms of recruiting class and transfer portal, we do seem to be quite a few players over the roster limit. We'll have to wait and see, probably after Spring Practice, how many guys leave.

I'm GUESSING, but unless they're just too good to turn away, we go the NIL/PWO route for most. That includes Jordan. This gets tricky tho because that route means no OVs. The question then becomes........ just what constitutes an official visit. I don't the know the intricacies of that subject, but I'm assuming if the school pays for nothing it is not an official visit.

LOL - yeah I think an OV includes the university paying expenses. Now - if someone slips the potential transfer an envelope with some cash to take an un-official visit it is technically breaking the rules - as long as no one finds out you can get away with it. The other option is to just tell them pay for the visit yourself we'll take care of it on the backend as part of the NIL deal.

Why? Was CU great at stopping anything? Or is it for trying to get mean-assed Polynesians? :-)

You're looking at this through an 'Old School' football lens, Blackshirtmark.

The way to look at this is to imagine the NFL with an open transfer portal during the off-season. Would teams worry about getting down to their 53 player active roster when transfer gems were are there for the taking? Of course not. The more stud players they can sign to make the team better, they absolutely will. But you can be assured, the Huskers will hit their max by Fall camp.

Hells Bells - there are

93 County Scholarships. ;flag

Of course, the Hooker County Scholarship carries the most cachet.

Young people have such short memories.
Thank goodness, I'm way past that.

I have nothing to say and I’ll only say it once.

I agree Doc. The problem is how to make sense of it all and figure out how it all pieces together.
