I'm more excited for the future after the game than before the game

This team is going to be pretty good by the time the Iowa game rolls around. The defense was a complete 180 compared to last season. The impact was easily noticeable.

Remember that I stated many times going into the season the most important thing for this season was to see how much better they will be after the first game compared to the last game. This team is going to continue to get a lot better as the season goes on.

Great coaches have an immediate impact on their team and often times the best ones become a force in their second season. Based on what we saw today, all of the good running game talent will return. Passing game will only lose Morgan. I was impressed with how well they did the first game in this system. By the first game next season they will be able to execute the system at a much higher level.

We are going to be competitive in all of our games this season. We will make a bowl game.

I loved the pressure by the D-line, even with 3 rushers. We had 7 sacks today. I just looked it up, we had 14 sacks for the season last year. We had half our output from all last season in 1 game. Great job guys!

Until they flip the roster we will struggle. the players are in better shape and stronger. We just need more talent especially on D on the edges

Ditto for me- yes... ugh, dumb mistakes killed us again... and if A Mart is out we're in trouble. But the athleticism... that 1st half comeback. 7 sacks. Yes please.

I'm excited about the future as well. I get its the first game, turnovers, freshman mistakes, etc. #2 looks like the real deal. The game however was given away. In all areas from coaching on down. That is what disappointed me. Even with game one. I'm over it and looking forward to game #2.

Neal had a big impact on how the defense performed today. He corrected many alignments/assignments on the fly and the open field tackling was much better.

The flipping of the roster is well on its way. We will probably bring in 27 new signees for the 2019 class.

Spot on.

This team made mistakes yes...but you know what I didn't see? I didn't see quit.

Can you imagine what would have happened last year if we give away 14 points in the first quarter? I am going to assume we would have been boat raced.

How many of us has said since December that we want to see a team fight for 4 quarters and not give up.

This team simply did not quit...and while I am bummed for the L, I believe that our best days are ahead. Colorado got us at the right time. The sleeping giant is waking.

I'm giving Frost the benefit of the doubt for now, that second half was pretty bad. Some questionable play calls, etc. Hoping that can be chalked up to first-game stuff, not knowing entirely what he has to work with, and can adjust accordingly.

And the point on continued roster turnover can't be overlooked.

I liked what I saw...period. Aside from the young mistakes...Take that away. Probably a two TD win.

Stupid mistakes doomed us today. It's rarely that simple, but it was today.

While I give Colorado credit (they deserved to win), we had the better team. But the better team doesn't always win.

I saw a lot that encouraged me: Heat on the quarterback, much-improved run defense, and 565 yards of offense are all signs of better times ahead. We're going to have to be patient this season.

Stanley still boffs easy catches.

Tyjon Lindsey..don't get the rep he had coming in. He is difficult to throw to because he looks like he's four feet tall. On sweeps he can't seem to cut up field quickly, maybe it's a vision thing. Maybe there is more to him than what I see. Has a Jaylin Bradley quality to him. Track speed but not a strong player.

Ozigbo...great transformation. Still a tough guy but has increased his quickness.

Did we even throw to a tight end?

Heard less than good things about our field goal kicking coming in to the year. Hope we can at least improve some on that.

Loved the pressure on the qb.

Mo Washington is a talented runner.

Leading in to that we had a frosh qb, rb, and a juco Rb that all played their first game. That a the 0-3 turnover margin sunk us

Nebraska won this game in many areas, and should have won overall. Left too much opportunity on the field. Warned some people in August this is going to be a process. Saw a lot of positives.

My gut feeling is they did not know the personnel well enough without a live game to know certain things.

I am encouraged for the first time since the early 2000's.

We looked like a team playing its first game of the season, but . . .

We were competitive for four quarters.

We HIT people!

We have an exciting offense!

We are a team trending upward.

We are playing a killer schedule, but we will be in a bowl AND we are going to win one game we are not supposed to this year.

7-5 if we play Akron 12/1.

RED BURNS BRIGHTER!

I witnessed our debacle in Minnesota last year. We had a team and coaches who quit early in the first quarter. Today I saw guys running around with their hair on fire, multiple players swarming to the ball, hard charging until the last play. I’m excited because Coach Frost will take that mindset and meld it with coaching and discipline. We had a lot of young gun out there today, it will only get better!

I saw a team that never quit. I never saw that at all last year. I hated losing in the last few minutes of the game, but, dang it, they gave it their all.

I don't like "what ifs" but my thought is without the two turnovers in the first quarter, this game would be in the "W" column. It did not leave a horrible taste in my mouth like last year's losses did. Husker Nation should hold their collective heads up proudly. I am so stoked for next week's game!

I saw a hungry team coached by hungry Coaches...Like I said, minus those 2 fumbles in the 1st quarter and this is a totally different game. I feel like they had a quarter to get stuff adjusted.

We will see the bigger adjustments to game two now that they will know the personnel better in live action.

BTW...the talk of our DL being about 7 deep turned out to be true.

Just watching the first half now because it is my son's birthday, and his party was at 3:00.

The penalties/turnovers are a concern, but I saw nothing that can't be fixed. Martinez learned that protecting the ball is much more important than crawling on all fours to gain one more yard. He doesn't have to win games all by himself with all of these weapons around him. That will come in time.

For the first time in I don't know how many years, I saw an offensive line that was driving guys back. I saw an attacking defense that was making plays and swarming to the ball. I saw Huskers actually having fun out there, which in turn gets the fans jacked up.

Spotting the opponent 14 points to start the game wasn't good. It was amazing to see the team stay tough, and not mentally collapse like we have seen too often the last 20 years.

Okay, time to watch the second half. Knowing the outcome I hope all my enthusiasm doesn't get washed away.
