Husker players file lawsuit

I just don't see anything substantial coming out of this other than finding out that most of the leadership of the universities voted for either directly or indirectly to postpone the season.
And then what happens? Is the conference going to change their mind and say ok, you can play? It's just another thing that makes people think ok, its going to change and it won't.

Well it looks like it is going to cool off on Sunday and Monday. We might get some rain. That should help. I am sure the farmers would appreciate that. I do think that the dryland crops are starting to burn bad here in south central Nebraska. We are almost to Labor Day so we should start to see a cool down. ;)

I'm confused. What's that got to do with the topic?

Good point. There is a higher likelihood that Monkeys fly out of all our a$$es than the BIG10 reverse course for the Fall. At his point, I think the only hope to play lies with the Winter/Spring idea, and I'm thinking the same Presidents who shot down the fall season will shoot down the Winter too. Other than the saliva test, not much will have changed in 3 months considering that the stated issue with contact tracing will not be solved, and the small risk of long term affects will not change. It's almost even more cruel to keep dangling the carrot of playing in front of the players unless the University Presidents are willing to truly reconsider and undergo a wholesale change concerning their "overwhelming consensus" to cancel. Can you imagine how pissed the players/coaches will be if the Winter idea gets strung out and then canceled also?

Here this is a better metaphor.

I believe there is already other legal action to obtain documents related to the decision.....B1G will fight it - but I suspect some information will be forced into the light of day. Just not in 2020.

Husker Votary might be able to shed more light on this, but my gut feeling is the players would have more standing in court than the parents, that's the purpose of this action.

Will they get some documents, or a better questions is, will someone get some documents and emails, yes. Will it change things, probably not. I would think FOIA requests from Universities would be faster...

The Conference is exempt from FOIA requests.

I understand. But I said the Universities. And I believe that some have been issued for UNL I thought I saw an article in the Journal Star and the Omaha World Herald with some info on emails from Ronnie Green or Carter. I would look but I was pissed because I was reading the Journal Star and an Ad autoplayed and that just pisses me off.

And I am not saying they can't sue. If they want to that is fine. But that will take time. FOIA I think can move quicker unless someone blocks it.

This is the only article I have seen that shows emails from Carter. Not sure if it was obtained by the FOIA or what, but here is the link:

Not my practice wheelhouse, but what little I know makes me wonder if they can avoid dismissal for failure to state a case. The counts in their petition (as I understand them, skin-deep) seemed like a reach.

Maybe I'm mistaken. I think I recall being wrong about something several years ago...
