Holding on to our BIG RED Security Blanket

Raked a bunch yesterday. Almost done.
Stuffed 16 of the 4' tall bags of leaves at my parents house. Waited till dark and dumped them over a 5' wall at one of their affluent neighbors, just for fun. Hope they are not real good at botany stuff and figure out what kind of trees grow that kind of leaves.

Now that is funny stuff! I'd take it over to my neighbor but I figure that he would know it was me and would give back to me along with his; so ....

Craziness has become the 'new normal' in CFB. We whined about not making a bowl game -- but, quite frankly, bowl games have become a joke unless you're in the playoffs. With the early signing date, it's caused ADs to move up their firings so we can watch teams scramble to hold together a team for their bowl game.

OU? Let's roll Bobby Stoops out of retirement. Florida? Whew, they made it to 6-6 so their interim coach can take on VaTech's interim coach in the legendary Gasparilla Bowl. Notre Dame? Their AD lobbied the Playoff Committee that the sudden loss of their head coach shouldn't be a consideration in the Irish's bid to be selected in the top four.

Is it me or is this stuff bonkers? Pardon me while I bury my head inside my Scott Frost security blanket for now.

The world has turned up side down Dr several years ago and it still has not returned to normal.

Why testing the waters here Hunchie? Everyone's having a good time, let's not screw it up by going quasi political
Was not meant to be political at all U. I have friends on both sides of the aisle that are tired of the madness. My apologies if you took it that way. I do not ever want this forum to go down the path it did last year on numerous occasions. That's all I'm going to say unless you prefer I delete it. It really was just a poor attempt at humour.

Peace.

Breaking international news...a few people caught a cold at a Norway Christmas gathering. Time to shut down the world economy.

I am 100% down for this!! Honestly, I think we all (everyone in the US and around the world) could really benefit from just slowing down and taking the time to appreciate this world and everyone in it. A collective reset where maybe, just maybe, we start treating either as human beings and not enemies who want to destroy everything we hold dear merely because they have a different way of doing something or believe in a diety others don't. #JustAThought

Great advice, but first we better figure out what triggered it to begin with (and no, it isn't politics).

I had several customers tell me that the benefit of the stay at home orders was that it taught them what was important and it wasn't going in for manicures, spray tans, etc. I loved walking the neighborhood and seeing kids outside being kids. I saw badmitten games being played, hoops being shot, tag being played, etc. Took me back to being a kid in the 60's. Didn't see that so much this summer. :sigh:

I don't care what caused it so long as we get it under control. Cannot say any more than that.
Throw that aside for a second, and I promise this isn't a political question at all: have you noticed a lot of people acting out of character for the last half dozen years or so? Possibly yourself included. I've caught myself a couple of times and had to step back and ask "where the hell did that come from?". Like people that are just typically happy-go-lucky all of a sudden showing a desire to be confrontational.

In principle I agree Crazy........no one reason is to blame - but being a bit more aware of your own actions is good advice to us all.

I'm pretty much like always. Former red head (before I grayed) and have the temper to go with it. I get pissed quickly, explode and then I'm over it.

As to other's behavior, I'm not going to go there. I really, really, really try hard to not get political so I'm zipping on this part of this thread. Sorry.

Honestly, yes I have absolutely noticed that and I 85% blame the media (all media). The 24 hour news cycle, combined with the sports team like affiliation with one's political party has created a "this person or group doesn't believe exactly what I believe so they must be satanic/evil and out to destroy everything I hold dear" type of mentality. Certain opinion driven shows are the worst perpetrators of this poisonous mentality. I know I have fallen into that trap in the past and now I can recognize when it is happening and try to steer clear of it. But it isn't easy.

I still think the best thing we (as all Americans) could do would be to drop our defenses and actually listen to opposing views instead of digging our heels even harder into our ideological positions.

Edit: That is all I want to say.

I kind of think there is one reason, but it isn't politics. People just started acting weird, often with no rhyme or reason as to what would set them off.
