Just think if Gill and the 1983 Huskers had the 1995 defense. Goodness they probably average 60 pts a game and crush the Hurricanes in the 84 OB.
Yes, things could've always been better--but the reverse is also true.

The other side of the coin is that TO wouldn't have made the changes he did had we not lost like we did in the 84 OB (remember I had my desk covered in oranges by my Hurricane boss at the time). Without those changes, it's hard to predict how those remaining seasons would have played out.
Honestly if he had the 95 defense then, no changes would've been needed and we win many more Nattys
I always thought that Tom made the best choice for the long term of the program. Just seemed unstoppable after he implemented his changes.
Funny how once he made the much needed changes to the defense and starters on Special Teams and no major changes to the offense, that's all that was needed to put them over the top.
Gosh, those years were so darn much fun. Especially for us since we lived in Leavenworth, KS and were smack in the middle of Jayhawk, Wildcat and Tiger country. It was tons of fun owning those people. LOL!
