First to Quote "Murphy's Law" for those who might not know....
It goes something like this,
"Anything that can go horribly wrong......WILL"
Or something to that effect,
Today my Day started out as most do this time of year....See I am a professional guide and outfitter so my day starts early....like 3:30 A.M. During Archery Elk season (one of our busiest seasons and one where I get to guide alot of famous, infamous and just ordinary joe type people) Anyway it's a daily routine that I have done every year for quite some time now and not to bragg, but I got my routine fine tuned to where even with the unexpected things that pop up from time to time I get my business handled and all our clients in the timber comfortable and happy before first light.
This season is looking good already as there is a big cold front bearing down on us today that will linger till around sun up This Wednesday so I tell all the people I am guiding ( 4 in my pick up ) to sit all day and be prepared for the unexpected. We provided them each with a back pack, charged 2 way private frequency radio, big lunch, snacks and Plenty of water to drink and a loggers first aid kit. Why a loggers kit....it's just easier for you to look one up on line to understand...it's intended more for punctures, bad cuts, etc....anyway long story short everything went off as usual without a hitch till about 8 A.M. when I get a call from my wife on the Radio that one of our clients decided to get out of the stand and go walking and tried to climb down a Perdy steep not so tall cliff and fell and broke his leg ! So off across the mountains I went and arrived just as the Helicopter was arriving. The Guy started out telling me what an idiot he was and I agreed and that he knew he was to stay put till I got to him no matter what...... We have agreements that all our clients sign to keep them safe and me out of court !
Anyway his injury was a fracture and not life threatening so the Helicopter was there anyway we just went ahead and had him flown to hospital. We later made arrangements to ship his belongings back to his home this week and will hold a spot for him next fall to come complete his quest for a Nice Bull Elk.
So as I was driving out of the I get another Call from one of the 4 I took out that he had a Bull Down....so I started to where he was at, looked at the Clock and it was 9:15 a.m.....well after getting to the client locating his very respectable 6x6 bull and doing the obligatory photos we were about done dressing and quartering his harvest when the Radio goes off
again this time My Wife (Who runs the Business and our base out of our Home says I need to land line her....(call her on the Cell )....so when that happens it's 90% of the time NOT BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO WHISPER SWEET NOTHINGS IN MY EAR.....my dear sweet Kate informed me one of our Nephews who had come with the Family for a visit over the holiday weekend had turned on the hydrant that goes to the Stock Tank for our Horses and our Pet Buffalo....and as if that wasn't bad enough he neglected to remember to shut it off again and it had been running into a Tank where there is NO HORSES OR BUFFALO TO DRINK.....THE HORSES ARE IN COLORADO WORKING AND OUR Pet Buffalo is out in the big meadow to the northwest of our home.....and to top that off the nephew had turned it on full blast......when they arrived at our home last Thursday Afternoon !..... that's right.....it's been pumping water out onto the ground for a total of 4 entire days !!!!!!!
Yes we have 2 wells on our place but both have 220v electric pumps down in them....and folks they are not cheap to run or replace should one burn up.
We now are the proud owners of a fairly sizeable pond thanks to Nephew....
I shudder to think what our Electric Bill is gonna look like.....oh how I wanted to string little nephew( Billy we will call him) up by his buster brown !!!!! Boy is my Sister in law going to be surprised when they get a bill for water usage in the Mail !
So that's 2 for those who are keeping track....and they say bad things come in 3s.....well little did they know how right "THEY" are....I'm driving the tagged out client to the Pickup in the Side by Side when another call comes in on the radio....again Kate says to land line her.....so right away I'm thinking oh man what now.....When She answers she informs me her Sister (the Mom of Nephew Billy the Pond Maker Extrordinaire ) scooped up her Husband and 2 Kids and just practically ran out of our house to leave before I could get home in such a hurry she hardly said good-bye...then in their haste to get out of our Driveway they dropped a right rear wheel off into the little ditch along our driveway for drainage....and ran smack into the log abutment of our bridge that crosse's the creek that runs through our property...they punctured the tire and broke something in how the rear axle sits in their little crossover suv thingy they were driving so guess what....I now have a bridge to fix and some houseguests that had already shown they would bail rather than face the Music.....Man I so want this day over.....the only silver lining is..... Nephew Billy's Parents are stuck at our house now till they can get a tow truck to haul their little wanna-be 4wheel drive vehicle in to a Dealer in town to get it repaired because it's not even a month old yet.....and guess who is going to be sitting down to eat Supper with them tonight......yep......ME !
THERE IS A GOD.....AND HE IS GOOD !

Ouch. I was thinking it's 2020 so one, I'm not surprised and two, is that all?
On a serious note, I hope that's just an anomaly for your season.

Well I hit a f***ing deer tonight... Did I hit it with my new pickup where I can go to the parts store in town and just get replacement parts. Oh heck no, hit it with the 1973 International. I go to the parts store and ask for parts for an International and they be like "say what?" Luckly everyone, Charlie was with me, is fine. Truck is fine but I have a dent in the grill and so I bet I will have to have someone straighten it. Deer Jumped up and ran off so I can't send him the bill. :fighting0054:

Damn, I guess that's one way to bag a deer! :) My wife hit a big old buck last year, and it totaled her Toyota Sienna. I would have liked to have seen a buck like that from my tree-stand. But, with the success rate I have when I bow hunt, I should start roaming the roads with my truck to get a deer, as it would increase my odds.... :D

That deer had a hell of a headache. They used real metal back in '73, all it did was dent the metal right below the aluminum part of the grill and above the bumper.

Poor thing thing stumbled around and then fell over. Sat there for about 5 seconds and then jumped up and ran off with his or her buddies. There were three of them. If the damn thing would have just kept running in the direction it was originally going instead of turning around and heading back we all would have just peed a little.

You guys are just too funny, thanks for the laugh....( I actually did laugh out loud).... See I am used to having things we orchestrate run very smoothly....it ought to I been doing it long enough....then you have some ding dong decide he knows better and he goes off on his or her own and gets a broken leg for their trouble.
We try the best we can to illustrate that our rules have been put there for the hunters safety not because we don't want them going rogue... but no matter how much we preach it, every season someone has brain lock and totally ignores what the rules are. Usually you can spot the one person even in a crowd who just has that look or posture of "yeah right I paid for this experience I'll do as I dang well please!"....and every season that is the one guest that gets lost or gets hurt. Our Lawyers had us make up this agreement each client has to sign that basically says "if you choose to not follow the rules and get hurt or worse they give up their rights to sue us and that includes our entire company and anyone who works for us. We already have to carry a huge freaking amount of insurance for everything but a Hurricane for crying out loud to satisfy the lawyers and the States we have license to guide in....it's not as easy as advertising, getting a client and taking them hunting....but that is Kate's dept. I just do the heavy lifting and clean up after.....lol.
Anyway thanks for making a messed up day....something to laugh at....oh by the way.... little Billy had to clean up the mess he made ( much to my Sister in law's horror by the way....it's no wonder the kid is a handful....)
The Dad agreed to pay the electric bill (just the increase is all we wanted over what our normal monthly bill is this time of year)....and I'm fairly sure of one of 2 things....either it's coming out of little Billy's hide .....or every penny he earns till it's paid off goes to re-paying dear old Dad....lol...and at the rate that kid is going....he will be in College before it's paid back....the lazy little so and so.....Oh and to top it all off my dear sweet Kate says to me....."now honey....you never did anything dumb like that when you were a kid?" ...to which I replied....of course I did....and I learned real dang fast.....if your gonna play......your gonna pay.....one way or another.

Clearly your fam is different than mine Doc. If I asked Jarhead to "act like family" the first thing he would do is hit me up for a Benjamin because he is "in a pinch."

Thanks, buddy! As soon as my shoulder fully heals, and I can hit the side of a barn with my bow, I might take you you up on that! :)
