Os held everyone accountable, MR not so much
I Agree. I bumped into an individual who taught at OSU during the Riley years there. He also owned a property next to a property that MR owned for a time.

He was just starting his time at NU and I was still hopeful that he would be a good hire, so I asked this gentleman and his wife, who I believe also worked in some capacity at the school, ‘Did we get a good coach?’ They choose their words pretty carefully, but simply said he would make a good friend, and he was a great neighbor, but he might be too nice for a football coach. I hoped they were wrong. Unfortunately, they weren’t.

Cignetti has NOT built a program. Since when has one winning season meant a program is built? He built a winning season, but if next year they fall back to a losing record is the program really built?
My comment was intended to be tongue-in-cheek. He basically brought his JMU team with him. Yet how many times this season have we heard the pundits praise Cignetti's "program-building"? (cue eye-roll)

The worst thing about it is that fans look at what Cignetti did this year for hapless Indiana and ask, 'Why the hell is it taking Rhule so damn long??!?"

The Cignetti effect will be hard to duplicate and is probably doomed to fail. First of all, he was able to bring in the right players to compliment the players already on the roster. The odds of that happening are really small. Second, when you bring in a lot of portal players, your roster is upperclassmen heavy. Meaning you are going to lose a lot of your roster every year or two. Because your roster is mostly made up of older players you are developing fewer younger players to replace them. This means you will need to replace them from the portal. That takes a lot of NIL money. Most schools do not have that. Even those that do have the money have trouble pulling in top talent because there is a lot of competition for the top players. So, after the initial year of two the team will be much diminished. The effect will be that a team like Indiana will lose 30 players and only be able to pull a half dozen off the portal and will have a lot of gaps to fill.

Most schools do not have a legend like this backing them...

How much of his money is he supporting them with? I looked him up and see his net worth is 30 million. That might cover a couple of years of NIL needs.

I envision a day in the future when instead of young people learning useful skills and trying to do things to advance humanity or civilization, they will buy a camera and a good computer and produce worthless podcasts for money. "That ain't workin, that's the way you do it, making money on You Tube." Perhaps we have reached the end point of the human reign of the planet.

Some dire straits we are living in for sure. My only hope is we survived the MTV generation.

He may not be giving them a dime and the Fox Sports Show just needed an Indiana related celebrity to have on and I am sure those are pretty hard to come by LOL. My initial post was made in gest I was not being serious.
