Darn quiet considering an 11-2 record.

I’m not a regular poster, but I am surprised by the lack of hoop conversation. Fred has continued to adapt to the conference and college sports in the 2020s.

One thing I do think he needs to consider is having Tominaga come off the bench the remainder of the season. It’s not just going to help the program, but I think it will improve KTs game. He’s a spark, he’s a guy who doesn’t need much to get in the flow, so coming off the bench is not a challenge. Additionally, put his energy on the court after that initial adrenaline is gone from those who started the game, he will gain an edge he needs to get more space to shoot.

No excuses for Hoiberg. Basketball has always been heavy on transfers, it's how he built Iowa State ffs. If anything it should be even easier for him now, yet he's stunk up the joint and his team is inconsistent.

I want to think this is the year for huskers to do something good but the terrible loss to Minnesota and injury to Mast have dampened that thinking. Going to need 11 conference wins and win at least 1 and maybe 2 in conference tourney.

Ok, I understand the sentiment that we need to maintain cautious optimism, but the lack of recognizing the college sports world is much different now than when Fred was at ISU seems really shortsighted. In many cases, Fred’s transfers at ISU had to sit a year, they got to practice together for a year, they got to learn the system, learn what their teammates could or couldn’t do, and that’s huge when building a team. Additionally, the method of evaluating the players was flawed. Matt A. may have been successful in prior stints, but he did not make good decisions this time around.

To his credit, Fred has learned what it takes to play in the B1G, and he’s focused on adding players that fit the conference, and fit the culture he’s worked at building in the program. Don’t get me wrong, he still makes some decisions I don’t understand, but overall I see a lot of positives in where we are in our development. I don’t worry about a loss here and there, because it’s basketball, even good teams have bad days. We had a couple of games we easily could have lost, but the guys got focused and pulled it off. That’s an improvement. And even with all the injuries, we’ve maintained success, and that’s a credit to the improvement in building depth.

Fred has done quite a bit to adjust his methods, and before we jump on him taking multiple seasons to do so let’s keep in mind, year one was a mad scramble to put a roster together, year two was his first real chance to mirror his prior methods, year 3 we brought in one of the best recruiting classes in the program history, but it just wasn’t a fit for the style played in the B1G. He ditched the old method, and has been improving the product since.

I like the direction we appear to be heading.

I've been pleasantly surprised this season. The Minnesota game is the only one I am disappointed in.
If they were to go .500 in conference that would put them at 20-11. Bubble team probably. They'd have to win a couple games in the Big 10 tourney.
It's still too early. Overall the Big 10 looks down so a .500 record might not cut it.
But as off this morning, Nebraska is the Last Team In in ESPN's Bracketology.

This team is probably good enough to win all remaining home games except Purdue. Doesn't mean they will but I think they could. That is 7 games - 19 wins. Probably need to find 2 road wins in B1G play to get over the hump of being in position to get a tourney invite. Each home loss beyond Purdue means another W they have to find on the road.

Or - get deep into the B1G tourney.

Bucky plays like that and not many teams going to beat them. Any team that shoots like that from 3 will be tough to beat. Think I saw somewhere that they were 8-33 in previous 2 games from 3.

Only one thing is better than beating the #1 team, that is being the #1 team. This team is definitely on the rise. I think they have earned a place in the rankings.

I have no expectation to be ranked #1 (not saying that is what you were inferring), but I agree that NU should be ranked. The snub thus far this season is confusing.
