Dana gone?

Everything I am seeing tells me Rhule doesn't know what he is doing - he is not anywhere close to understanding what he needs to do to be an excellent football coach. Pay the friggin' dude off and move on.

We were saying the same thing about Butler's D last year. Personally, I've been very impressed with how good the defensive has become under Aurich. A similar hire of a young, hotshot OC wizard could be just what the Doctor ordered. One thing to keep in mind (as we learned with Dana), it's one thing to show gawdy PPG and total yards in most conferences, but it's got to translate to the B1G.

Understandable, given our last four weeks but in my mind, our future odds are better to salvage our 2027 recruiting class and see what Rhule can do for the offense. IMO, we have a talented nucleus. This would allow Dannon some time to get some behind-the-scenes feelers to be prepared if next season devolves into another one like this.

One point that I've heard multiple times --- this doesn't apply to you Jim---is the notion of firing our AD, Troy Dannon: Do we REALLY want to get rid of the head guy as you start a major stadium rebuild??? Seriously, how in the world can anybody opine about replacing your AD at the start of this massive project. And other than general fan anger, why should Dannon get the ax? He didn't hire Rhule, Trev Alberts did.

And while football has been a disappointment, Nebraska has done better in all-sports than we've seen in ages.

I think changing the AD before a coaching hire is a good idea but our AD didn't hire Rhule. I'm in a fire everybody mood - but I also realize the money folks gotta be onboard with changes. We've been pretty awful at hiring choices for football so just firing Rhule doesn't mean we have an ace head coach up our sleeve.

Reactions: Doc Fumble
According to what I heard things had gotten pretty contentious between Rhule and Dana especially after the Washington game. Dana was reportedly the one who asked to go up in the box to try and get away from Rhule on the sidelines. Will be interesting to see if Dana goes quietly or if he feels the need to defend his reputation he may start spilling some tea regarding what he perceived to be the issues with the way Rhule was running the program. I hope he does not air his grievances in public as we don't need any more damage done. Maybe Dannen will give him an exit interview and he can share his concerns then and Dannen can address them with Rhule in private to try and get them corrected.

Or…..imagine if Dana did spill some information that would allow Rhule to be fired for cause, negating the buyout.

With signing day rapidly approaching, the last thing this program needs is a Festivus airing of grievances in the public square. I hope he goes quietly.
