Well he was a RS sophomore, I have seen many of them dominate as a DT in college football in a very long time. How many other dominant defensive lineman have there been under Bo's tenure at NU? 2. Crick was good but had the advantage of playing next to Suh making him look much better than he was, VV and Collins are good but not dominant yet. Gregory and Suh were capable long before Bo came along and only part of the it goes to coaching. 2010 is the best NU defense in memory, how many did Bo recruit? And if it is Bo's coaching/scheme that made those players and defensive unit so good, where has it been since?
True, he was a sophomore. But he "looked like Tarzan and played like Jane" :)

Do you forget what Dale Cosgrove did to Adam Carriker? He could screw up a wet dream. Bo just turned Suh loose.
Come on valiant, you must have heard the interviews with Cosgrove a couple years after he was fired. It wasn't his fault, the Defense was fine.......:headbang:

I'm not sure where Suh got his inspiration between his junior and senior years, but he went from feckless chest pusher to a full fledged hand technique Kung fu master in a single season. The difference was Suh learned hand techniques like a pro.

Where has it been since? Lets see...Sanders, C. Pelini, and Mike Ekler are all gone. Where has our defense gone since all 3 have left? I rest my case. We do have a very good DB coach in Warren and a good DLine coach in Kaz, but the LB coach and DC aren't on par with CP or Ekeler. When the good coaching goes away, so does the good play from the players. The recruiting has been better the past 2 years bu the coaching hasn't been there on the defensive side of the ball. The only 2 Offensive coaches worth keeping at this point are Brown and Fisher.

You are sadly mistaken if you think I was giving Cosgrove a pass. Just the opposite. Cosgrove essentially neutered Adam Carricker. He did the same with Suh. Lucky for Suh that Bo came along and released the Krackin.

No Bo didn't recruit SUH, but Suh didn't become the player he was until he had the proper coaching from Bo and Carl.

They did the same with Suh that they did with David, let him attack the ball, nothing more. People dont like Blake, but without him, there was no Suh. How we got him away from Oregon is a mystery.

I don't disagree with his recruitment. My point is and will always be, when Bo took over with the staff he had the players were coached better on defense. That alone should've helped in landing big time recruits. Especially after what SUH did his Senior year. However those coaches weren't the best recruiters. The staff he has now, is much better at recruiting and coaching. There's just a couple coaches who need to go as neither are coaching or recruiting their positions very well at all.

Not at all valiant, my post was pure sarcasm. I thought the head-to-brick would tip you off, but I guess I wasn't being clear. It has always bugged me that Cosgrove refused to take responsibility for the Defensive collapse.....Hence the :headbang:
