Not looking past Purdue but something to keep an eye on is Michigan has paused football activities. If Minnesota and Michigan are both unable to play next week I can see a likely scenario where the B1G would set us up for another round vs OSU so the beloved Buckeyes don't have another "no contest" on their playoff resume.

Michigan football scraps practice, remains virtual today

Minny had 40+ positive tests - my guess our game is 50/50 at best - so yeah a rematch might be our only option.

At this point, does ANYONE want to see us get 50+ put on us...again...by OSU?

Honestly, I was excited when I found out Nebraska was going to play football this season...

Now I just want the season to be over. Gawd, this is so brutally painful. Just take a gun, someone, and put this F'd up season out of our misery.

too much boat rowing for my liking. How on earth does that happen?
IMHO there is flawed testing. We have a knack for positives to suddenly surge around various holidays & events that is simply too convenient if one wants to keep people at home. Here in Florida the fatality rate dropped like a rock but positive tests are wildly all over the place. Even control groups are being returned positive at a ridiculous rate.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit apologizes for floating conspiracy that Michigan would use COVID-19 to avoid playing Ohio State

On the show, Herbstreit said that he thought Michigan “waves the white flag and potentially avoids playing Ohio State next week” via COVID-19 protocols. The Wolverines not playing against the Buckeyes would mean three canceled games for Ohio State and prevent OSU from being eligible for the Big Ten title game.

The way it was written when the whole post season cross over game thing came to light is the teams face each other based on similar records.....so let's say we wind up dead last in our division with 3 wins....we would face a team from the east with a similar record....or if we wind up say with 2 win season...we would face a team from the east with a similar win loss total....Kate and I were talking last night at supper about just this subject and we were this kind of thinking a Michigan or something along those lines match up.....but it has to be played in a neutral domed site.....so where would that throw us....that's the real question. We will see how bad the Big 10 really has it in for us by who we play and where.

DOC HOLIDAY.

I believe they are seeding the teams based on the standings and then matching up #1 vs #1 and so on. Right now we are in last place in the west and Penn State is in last place in the east. It would be interesting if in this case in particular they would shuffle things around to avoid rematches.

Of course that is assuming all teams are COVID free and able to play. Where it really gets interesting is what if each side of the conference does not have the same number of teams able to play. For instance if the east had 5 teams and the west had 6 then one west team would get left out in the cold. I can only assume the lowest seeded team would be left out meaning unless we get a couple of wins these next two weeks Nebraska is at high risk of staying home on December 19th. I think IF we play is the bigger concern than who/where we play...

Living in Ohio, I have already heard Buckeye fans saying this. Kirk let his Buckeye roots get in the way. I find it interesting that the school that seemed to have the most regulations in their state gets an outbreak. Minnesota too.

Ditto, there is nowhere I go in Central Ohio where people aren't wearing masks where we're supposed to. Some weeks back my neighbor/slash friend got it and I was most definitely exposed but no Covid. So either I got lucky or already had it and didn't know.

Michigan cancels Maryland game, halts activities

The game against Maryland was Michigan's last scheduled home game. With losses in all three home games played this season, this is the first time in program history Michigan has not had at least one home win.

The Wolverines are 2-4 on the season and still have Ohio State remaining on the schedule, in Columbus. With this game being canceled, there is no guarantee Michigan and Ohio State will play in the annual rivalry game.

If The Game is canceled next weekend as well, it would put Ohio State under the minimum six games required by the Big Ten to participate in the conference championship game. The exception is if the average number of games played by each team within the conference falls below six, in which case the Buckeyes would qualify.

Any change to the policy or division tiebreakers would have to be generated by the 14 athletic directors, who would ultimately have to agree on the changes.

So northwestern should be playing maryland this week, right? The way I understood it if 2 games were cancelled by Wednesday, the 2 teams without covid would play each other. But haven't seen that mentioned anywhere

Pac 12 does this pairing teams that have an opponent that cancels, works well
