Bring BHF Back

We're basically 10 days from the start of season so hopefully things will start to pick back up on the board. There a few names I have not seen in a while so hopefully we'll see them in the next couple weeks.

I think the downturn in posting on this site parallels the excitement for Husker football at this time. Currently we are an ok team. Not great, not bad, but ok. I think people are excited to see improvements from the coaching changes in the past few years, and the uptick in recruiting, but that is a wait and see. I would be curious to see what the traffic level is on other boards the past couple of years. Most of those boards are bigger, so a dip in participation may not be as easy to see.

As for the coach, there are people who think Riley is right for the job, and those who think his is wrong for the job. But nobody really dislikes the guy. Pelini had the type of personality that people loved or hated. There was no in between. So any pro or con discussion of Bo’s performance invoked emotional response.

As for me, I have been on the board for a long time, but I never posted much. I found out from another board that I would get myself too worked up on subjects and people. I have been coming to this board to read differing peoples opinion, and inside happenings around the football team.

Well, I haven't posted much lately, but it has nothing to do with this site, this staff, or our record. Life, and all its nuances, gets in the way sometimes. It's hard to believe but even husker football has to come in second sometimes:apthy:.

I'm excited about this year....just like every year. Maybe just a smidge more because of the defensive staff MR has assembled, and because of the promise of a new quarterback, BUT my expectations are tempered just a little because of our schedule, the transition into new schemes, and new coaches melding early in the season. The season can't get here too soon for me.

The last two years of the Pelini era really took it's toll on this board. I think both sides got a little out-of-line, myself included. I'm hoping this board will rebuild. Glad that this discussion is happening.

I haven't been on the board for a while now, I've been pretty busy. I just heard of Solly's passing and man, I am both shocked and saddened to hear that. We had some pretty epic battles between us on here but I respected the guy so much. That man could talk about anything, just a vast amount of knowledge. I remember he talked me into planting an Autumn Blaze Maple in my back yard a few years ago. Beautiful, beautiful tree and I always think of Solly when I water it. It also unexpectedly turned into it's fall colors a few weeks ago. Man, I'm going to miss that guy. I feel for his family.

It's Game Week, and the 3(!) new topics so far have a grand total of 9(!!) posts.

Might not have just been the offseason, guys.

A mod once told me "If you don't like BHF, go somewhere else."

I happily did. Looks like lots of others have as well.

You reap what you sow.....

(You meaning the admins/mods that didn't help the situation much over the years)

I can only speak for myself on this topic. I do remember a time or too when this happened. Heck I might have been one of the mods/Admins to say something like that. If it was, I am truly sorry. However typically I only make statements like that when ultimatum's are thrown down by people. Which has happened far to often in the past on this board. This board is for every Husker fan in the world. Heck it's even for Non-Husker fans. Anyway going forward as long as there is civil discourse, everyone (including Iowa fans. Did I just say that? Wow.) Are welcome on this board. :huskerflag:

Hi, y'all!

I lurk on this site occasionally, as I used to be a member here.

During my time as a member I mentioned that this site was having issues with low member activity as most of the posting was made by the mod/admin group. That concern was never addressed then and is rearing it's head now.

The mods/admin were a big part of the problem. I was a supporter of one player over another and I was told by one of the mod team that (paraphrasing) "The site owners do not agree with your opinion. You can either quit posting that opinion or be banned."

I continued this discussion via PM with one of the mods, and at the same time I was absolutely ripped by one of the other mods (in the recruiting forum) for disagreeing about moving a player from one position to another. My response to that tirade and essentially being called stupid by a mod/admin was "Do you feel better now?" and then I was banned.

I see a couple of people saying that the reason the traffic is light it because they don't like to see opinions that they don't agree with. There are a couple of members that every time they post, they are attacked by a couple of other members for their opinion, and the ones that don't like to read differing opinions threaten to take their balls and go home. I guess my thoughts on that are if you don't like to see opinions that you don't like, message boards and the internet in general may not be the place for you.

Anyhow, thanks for letting me share my thoughts and if you want to ban this account I understand.

Members are allowed to disagree with anyone on this board. You just need to keep it civil and please don't drone on about topics. Give your opinion and debate it, but don't try to beat it into other members. Sometimes we all just have to agree to disagree.

I think the theme about why people stopped visiting has all been pretty much similar issues.

I also think the main person driving those personal bans won't be an issue anymore.

It really helps to have a regular poster apart of the forum that has inside information exclusive to this forum. The older I am the further removed from my old contacts. Some of them are now the bluehairs that we used to actually knock here, for putting too old of face on the fan base. I really believe you need to raise the level of hype in the program to draw in the younger fan base (again).

Well, all it took was a couple of losses and the AD being fired for membership activity to increase and new members to sign up.

Not sure of that;s a good or bad thing.

For better or worse, it's an opportunity

I think you're right.
