Bill Moos Book - Initial Frost Meeting

Taken from a USA Today article on Moos's book:

"In his book, Moos wrote, "Nebraska just fits better with the schools of the Big 8." USA Today's Blake Toppmeyer agrees and, in a recent column, laid out how he would like to see the CFB world reshuffle for the better of all involved."

F U Blake Toppmeyer - there is no way....no way....Nebraska is headed back to the Big 12. He implies we struggle is every sport in the B1G. The F we do! Dude is a complete hack.

IMHO, any AD who wanted to take NU out of the Big 10 and put them back in the Big 12 should have been fired on the spot.

First, the loss in revenue would be crippling.
Second, the Big 12 has been on the verge of collapse for years.
Third, while football has suffered, nearly every other sport has flourished in the Big 10.

The only thing it would accomplish is possibly covering up his horrible football coach hire.

Saying Nebraska should go back to the Big 12 shows you simply don't like losing football games and want an easier path. That is the worst reason possible to change conferences. Nebraska is able to continue to run their Ath. Dept. as they have for decades - without tax payer funds - self funded through mainly football revenue - much of that now being B1G TV and Conf revenue sharing $$$. They would not be able to do that in the Big 12 - therefore it will not happen. Rutgers and Maryland have huge financial issues for their athletic departments that might forced them out of the B1G.....but I don't think that is the most likely resolution. They simply will have to adjust spending to be more in line with revenues. When the TV contracts come up in a few years look for B1G to go to 20-24 teams.

If I'm not mistaken there was a lot of people wishing, we were back in the B12 around that time and sometimes I still do. I miss the old B8 actually the old rivalries. Anyway, I'm a nobody and perhaps there were some big donors that were voicing their preference that he was listening to.
I agree that it would be crazy money wise but... there it is

I was so fed up with Texas bullcrap I was never in the we should go back to the Big 12 camp. Essentially they forced our move with their feelers about leaving the Big 12 and letting the "old Big 8 minus OU" hold the bag. Do I miss kicking the hell out of KU and KSU every year? Sure. Not to mention a typically brutal game with Mizzou every year. And of course the OU showdown in November. But those days are long gone - we are doing what is best for the University being right where we are at. The fact our Athletic Dept. and Leadership can't get the F out of the way of the football program is on them more than anything.

Hear! Hear! I truly believe the state of Husker Football has more to do with Jimbosc's take than anything. What gives me hope now is that I believe our current AD is a good one. If the Powers-that-Be stay out of his way and allow him to run his show, I believe he and Rhule will "get there" sometime soon.

I miss the old rivalries too--especially since we beat the crap out of our old Big Eight rivalries on a regular basis.

When you have an .800-plus winning percentage over the course of 50 years against all of our neighbors, there's a lot to like.

I think one of the mindsets that has dogged the program since joining the B1G, is that we've been surprised that teams like NW, Iowa, Minny, and Illinois haven't behaved the way K-State, KU, Mizzou, and Iowa State routinely did.

OK, the B8/B12 days were our glory days and that's why people opine from time to time that maybe we made a mistake. It is very difficult to go home again. Things simply aren't as you remember them because times have changed and everything has moved on.

I suspect most people were just reminiscing -- nothing wrong with that and you don't have to act on reminisces.

Totally agree, Uenth. But there's a HUGE difference between fans reminiscing and our former AD actually lobbying for it.

The number of non-football "leaders" who have screwed over Husker Football since Osborne retired as coach has been staggering. It's got to be some kind of record: AD Pederson, AD Eichorst, Chancellor Harvey Perlman, and Chancellor Ronnie Green. (Hell, it's NO WONDER the System President took the UNL athletic department away from its own UNL Chancellor!!!)

Thank God, Moos wasn't allowed to join the list.

And fans complain that Troy and Matt haven't already returned the program to prime time
.

Hells yes, on all counts Fumble. Higher ups definitely have put the screws to NU's Football Program and that's wrong on so many levels.

From what I have read, Moos was damned if he did and damned if he didnt. We were all snookered into believing Frost would turn the program around yourself included.

I think conference "fit" these days is less about geography, enrollment size, or research accolades and more about a common commitment to sponsor athletics at a certain level.

There are a lot of institutional differences, for example, between Nebraska and Southern Cal. But they both invest in athletic excellence, hoping to succeed at the elite level.

As long as there is a B1G conference, Nebraska needs to remain a member.

Well, that would make us no better than all the NIL hungry athletes we've been p*ssing and moaning about.
You need to explain how what I posted would some how equate to NIL athletes like that pile of poop going to Texas Tech or the one that abandons Duke and moved to Miami. I am not advocating in any fashion turning the NCAA into a Las Vegas casino
