I can appreciate that, Husker99. But I would argue this time around is different. This whole, "Yeah we're buying in." narrative is fantastic; and while my optimism for Nebraska football in 2024 is through the roof, there is a part of me that says: We've seen this ending as a horror movie before.

I would argue the class BC had in 2005 with Lucky and Suh was better than ANY class Pelini recruited - this one might beat it but the jury is still out. 2005 was ranked 8th overall - and had several really good players beyond those 2 guys.I can appreciate that, Husker99. But I would argue this time around is different.
Will Coach Rhule let us down? Hey, it's always a possibility; nothing is ever guaranteed. But I'd wager this year is going to be a "Welcome Back, Nebraska!" party in CFB. How big of a breakout season we'll see depends on a number of variables but the sky's the limit.
- Rhule is a veteran coach with a proven track record of turning programs around.
- The program is as transparent as its ever been. That doesn't mean we're seeing the warts but we're seeing a hell of a lot more than I've seen with any Husker program in my lifetime. And what we're seeing is looking pretty damn good!
- We've already seen more evidence of player development (veterans and newbie freshmen) than I've seen around here since early in Bo's tenure.
- Face it, this is arguably the best recruiting class of certified studs going all the way back to Osborne's Tommie Frazier class.
I agree. Billy did good job of recruiting but it took Bo to develop them.I would argue the class BC had in 2005 with Lucky and Suh was better than ANY class Pelini recruited..
Suh was a genuine difference maker. John Blake was the recruiting wizard who got him to Lincoln.2005 was ranked 8th overall - and had several really good players beyond those 2 guys.
Don't know, I hope you are right, but it will be hard to beat that class. Bowman, Potter, Turner, Slauson, Dillard and others were also in that class.I agree. Billy did good job of recruiting but it took Bo to develop them.

Lucky? Good player but not an elite RB. Harrison Beck? Total bust. History will determine it but I suspect this year's class will turn out to be much better overall than that 2005 class.
Hey, it's a hell of a lot better than LOSING the offseason.Winning the offseason.
We are in the top 20!Winning the offseason.

What I like is the potential all these players have. There is not a single player who makes me scratch my head. Even the ones who are not highly ranked have superior athletic ability and speed to burn.Hey, it's a hell of a lot better than LOSING the offseason.![]()
I gave up putting much stock in recruit 'rankings' a long time ago. As I recall, Frostie had three straight top twenty recruiting classes. How'd THAT work out??!?
FWIW, I swear if Rhule's same class were headed to Notre Dame, they'd be touted by the recruiting pundits as a sure-fire Top Ten class. For me, I'm just pleased to see some guys who look like they'll become studs. We'll decide how good they really are on the field.
