HUSKERS move up here. Start of season we were around 11-12. Being at 7th and ahead of Iowa is encouraging. Now, Rhule needs to issue a Directive to the team much like dictator Joseph Stalin issued to his Red Army against Germany in WWII. Directive Order No. 227: Not a single step back!
Incidentally, he issued this Directive with the orders of being shot if you stepped back, and they were. Now we don’t want Rule to be that severe but………..

Ack!!! Orders? Stalin? Red Army?

Sorry Righteous Red, I guess I'm a "stuck-in-the-old-ways-of-doing-things" kind of guy when it comes to team governance. Instead of a dictatorial 'order' from the Head Honcho, I'd like this message to come from the players themselves. It's their team--it should come from them. Like the Tom Osborne Glory Days, we brought back the Unity Council for a reason. IMO, when everybody on the team is aligned, 'bought in,' and invested, it may not guarantee success but the odds are much more likely to be what we all want.

And YES, I'm ONLY talking football here!!! :)

Pertaining to Righteous Red's post (#1), I'd put Iowa and Illinois ahead of Nebraska, but aside from that, no real qualms with that power ranking list.

EDIT: A 1.2% chance to win the conference? If there was ever a time to use the Dumb & Dumber "So You're Saying There's A Chance" meme, this would be it. LOL

...and Washington. If the Blackshirts don't figure out how to contain a mobile QB Williams and the Huskies may hang 40+ on Nebraska in Lincoln.

Here's the thing though, starting with Bowling Green, if Nebraska's defense doesn't figure out how to contain or limit the QB from running, literally every B1G team on our schedule will note that and include QB runs in their gameplan. I mean that's just Football 101--do the things your opponent has trouble stopping and stop the things your opponent does or does well.

Agree 100%, but some QBs may hurt you with the run, Williams will kill you. That guy is an elite runner. I fear Washington more than Iowa or Illinois because of Williams ability to beat you with his legs.

Yeah he's a shifty one, I'll grant you that. I think Rob Aurich is going to have to use a SS or a CB as a spy on every passing situation snap. Yes that takes one player away from the coverage but if our secondary is as good as Rhule says it is, they should be able to cover. Either that or the DL is going to have to show a level of discipline in their rush lanes that they didn't show vs Ohio. Will be interesting to see how Aurich gameplans to account for QBs running going forward. The good is both Rhule and Aurich have mentioned in pressers the need to limit the QB's runs so at least they're aware of the issue.

Glad you stopped when you did
..I am disappointed; however, that you didn't reference the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Germans. :-)

I live in Ohio and everybody is sick around here after the loss to Texas. I thought Nebraska fans hated to lose but these folks around here REALLY hate to lose. I suppose they'll be wanting to fire the coach by tomorrow

That will happen if they lose to Michigan. I moved out of Ohio a year ago. Ryan Day is an average coach with elite talent. I have felt this for a while.

Pretty sure that there were ZERO Messerschmitt Bf 109s or Focke - Wulf Fw 190s seen at Pearl Harbor, but plenty of ZEROs.

OSU and Nebraska are on different levels. Sadly, the state of Nebraska has grown accustomed to losing. OSU wanted to fire John Cooper every year for only winning 8-10 games (sound familiar, Bo Pelini). Today we would sell our left one to win 8 games, while OSU wants to get rid of a coach that won a natty a few short years ago.
