I'm stunned that we didn't crack the Top 25, or at least get a vote from somebody, somewhere. LOL, that vote crack is a sick joke or attempt on my part.

I have no problem with 39th. I’m with that old E F Hutton slogan. Earn it. With the murders row schedule we have, we have ample opportunity to show if we’re there yet. We will rise with wins or float somewhere in the middle. No doubt we have a much better team than we have had for some time. More talent. More depth.
The thing is this is the Big leagues with blue bloods from top to bottom. There are several blue bloods that will be disappointed when it all plays out. You win with this league you rise. Now it comes down to second chances with playoffs expanding. One just needs to get close for that second chance. Attrition at this level is inevitable. Depth is key. Building momentum and the cream will eventually rise. It’s a different game now. One winner in a sea of blue bloods. For the rest maybe a second chance.

I agree, Korn. With this schedule, wins in October and November will prove we belong.

In Rhule's second season, we went out to Bloomington looking ahead to Ohio State the following week and got our butt's handed to us.

This year, Indiana is coming in to Lincoln for their second of two back-to-back road games (likely still undefeated) and looking ahead to Ohio State at home the following week.

There's no guarantees out there as we found out last year against Michigan. But our game against the defending national champions could finally signal our "the cream will eventually rise" game. Indiana will certainly get Husker fans' "A+" Game.

Fingers-crossed.

I think we'll know quite a lot about this team after the first couple games. I expect the Huskers are going to dominate the first three or four games, and we'll be flyin high and in the top 25 heading into the showdown with Indiana. GO BIG RED

Every year a couple teams are unprepared for week one and get shocked by some weaker non con game. Ohio had a winning season last year and I suspect they are going to try anything to pull off an upset. We need to take every game seriously and be prepared for week one. Special teams better be ready. We need to minimize penalties. We need to wrap our minds around the possibility that a few breaks might go against us early and we could be down 10-0 after the first quarter. We need to have the confidence that no matter what, doing your job well is all that is required. Play our game and we'll get the results we need.
Who am I kidding? No way the Ohio game is even close. We can go in relaxed, it's more a glorified scrimmage.
Or will it be?

I haven't bothered to look but in the modern era of college football if a MAC or MWC school had a good season more than likely whatever talent they had on the roster has been bought out by a P4 program. Ohio. like all other mid major programs, will forever be in "rebuild" mode.

No better example than the players that have joined the Huskers from SDSU.

Ohio has been playing great ball since Solich left. However, they lost their HC and almost all their offense. I don't see any way they can put it together enough to be in this game. NU is favored by about 4 tds in this game.

I'm jus' sayin'....
Every year a couple teams lose non con games against teams no one thought had a chance. Every year. Thinking it can't happen to you is partly how it happens.
Take nothing for granted, Put your preparation into the game in front of you and t won't happen.
Remember Georgia Southern?
It still confounds me how we lost that game.
I know, how can I compare Ohio to Georgia Southern.
I'm just saying.

On any given day and all that. We just have to see how things play out. I can't envision us losing that game but the team does have to stay focused and take each game as it comes.

If we:

* Come up with an effective Red Zone Offense/package
* Play in the 4th quarter like we play in the 1st quarter both on O and D
* Then repeat the above in late Oct and November

Should move up a couple dozen spots from 39th place.
