Alcohol sales at all UNL athletic events

If you are going to sell beer, why not offer only Nebraska beers. There are a number of excellent breweries here in Nebraska. Have a system where all breweries have a chance to sell their beer, maybe rotate brands during the season to include everyone. These breweries employ local people. Not having tried all these beers, I’m 100% confident that it is much better than that beer flavored water called Bud Light. Maybe a system like that may allow some of these small town breweries expand and hire more people.

My guess is because the locals don't have billions of dollars behind them

I don't like it but I digress. I've been to the last 3 games and can't even begin to tell you how many drunk Husker fans have been escorted from the stadium. This will make things worse. Oh well, it was bound to happen.

Agree...there's only 1 thing going to happen at sporting events with alcohol, and it's not good, because the same thing happens whether your team is winning or not.

If the team isn't winning + alcohol...nuff said.

If the team is winning + alcohol...someone will end up in a fight, or escorted out...because the first thing to go when you're drinking is your imbalance and the ability to think clearly.

Anytime you beat Wisconsin in a drinking contest - you are really getting it done with regard to high level boozing. If you travel internationally and happen upon a random drinking contest the first question will be which country you are from (United States)....okay great - which state? (Wisconsin). Sorry you all have a lifetime ban for being full time alcoholics.

Which is why this is not a good look for Husker Nation. We will be perceived as drunks. To make things look even worse we average around 85k fans per game. I would say roughly 40% if not more either can't legally drink (under age 21) or they just don't drink if of legal age. Which means of those who can legally drink they are averaging at least 3 beers per game at $12 a pop. $36 in just alcohol? Dang. Not worth it.

That depends on how personal the drinker is taking the loss

Very good points.
The statistic we need to see is alcohol purchased PER FAN. Toledo looks like they're way lower than us, but if it's a stadium with only 2300 fans, they're really drinking!
(I don't know how many fans Toledo has, or their stadium's capacity. Just threw those numbers out to make a point. I'm not saying Toledo is full of drunks. Although, those of us who have been to Toledo, know they have good reason to drink.)

A couple of things come to mind.
If there was a significant uptick in DUI, Intoxicated drivers, fights due to the sale of alcohol, we'd have heard or seen about it by now.
Most other college football fans won't see Nebraska fans as drunks. Other terms and stereotypes come to mind before drunks.
Lastly, based upon the game day chat here on BHF, those numbers would go WAAAYYYY up if BHF chat members were at the game. Especially the last month.

GO BIG RED!!!

Speaking of Toledo - maybe Klinger should have tried being an alcoholic instead of a cross-dresser.

I think the alcohol sales are skewed somewhat as this is the first year in Memorial Stadium. I know I had a beer at the Akron game, just because it was there/available. Didn't really plan to have one and don't necessarily plan to have them in the future. I'm sure there are a few fans that also had 1-2 due to the novelty.
