Alberts to A&M?!?!?!

Thanks, ATX. I took the time to listen to Ol' Aggie Trev.

I still have tremendous tremendous respect for what TA did to land Rhule, but over time I've come to suspect that the Admiral's involvement in the football coaching search has been underappreciated and undervalued.

Knowing what we know now, it's hard for me to believe Rhule wasn't concerned about the feud between Alberts and 1890. Considering how much Rhule paid attention to everything else about the program, I'm guessing Trev soft-pedaled it but he might have wondered why his interview schedule didn't include Davison or one of the Peets.

But if you think it wasn't a super-big deal for Matt, consider thatONE WEEK after Alberts' departure we had a brand-new AD in place who enthusiastically endorsed 1890 as the Official NIL collective of Nebraska sports. I'm still stunned by how quickly that happened. It did because: 1) we had an interim President; and 2) Matt Rhule was running the show.

But if I'm honest, Trev's style was growing stale (to me, anyway) even before his departure. Alberts has a fakey, 'nicey, nice' smoothness about him that reminds me of an Old West snake oil salesman. You can have him, A&M.

I'm probably not going to buy Bill Moos's book that's coming out soon, but I'm looking forward to some juicy quotes from it.

I listened to a YouTube from Damon Benning's radio show where he and his bearded sidekick interviewed Mitch Sherman.

DB opined -- and Mitch agreed -- that, despite the humongous increase in support staff size, this is the most "in-sync" Athletic Department / Football program Nebraska has had going all the way back to Devaney as AD and TO as his head football coach.

One of the comments Sherman made is that usually at Nebraska when the football coach loses the AD who hired him and gets a new AD, it has meant his time as the Huskers' Head Man is rapidly coming to an end. But he said that in the case of Troy Dannon, he believes that he and Matt Rhule have a much stronger working (and personal) relationship than what Rhule and Alberts ever had.

I agree with Mitch. But when I heard what he'd said, I thought to myself, that's because Matt Rhule is the one responsible forTroy being here. :)

Used car salespeople are some of the most honest people I've ever known, right behind lawyers.

Why just the other day the nice lady at the used car dealership sold me a 2015 SRT Hellcat. It had dents, chipped paint, cracked windows, windshield, torn up dirty interior, missing a motor, and bald tires. I asked about the missing motor and tires, and she said without the engine I'll save on gas and no grooves means there's more tire in contact with the road so I'll get better traction. She also said she could get me into this bad girl for just $175,000 at 68.9% interest.

So Red, respectfully, I will NOT have you disparaging used car sales people--not on my watch!

Man, that's some heavy shite to read first thing in the morning. Fortunately, I had just finished my coffee so at least I didn't have to wipe off my monitor. :happy0064::happy0064::happy0064:

You're right. I think he even wore Herb Tarlek plaid suits from time to time. Looked a bit like the seat covers for my old '73

Boy, Herb Tarlek, king of polyester plaid. You brought back some great memories. Sadly, Herb (Frank Bonner) died in 2021. IMG_0153.jpeg

Yeah, we were big WKRP fans. When it first aired, I was living in Covington, KY with my ex, Jethro Bodine. It was fun to see the Cincinnati skyline and have seen those places in person. Herb was just a great character, his slime just oozed out of him. LOLOL.

Best WKRP episode, hands down, is the Thanksgiving turkey giveaway.

The big guy saying "With God as my witness, I thought turkey's could fly.

Les was priceless as well. There are some dark objects falling from the sky.. and then his horror when he discovers they are live turkeys. LOL!

Turkeys can fly a bit. Probably not from that height though. There are bunches of wild turkeys around GI and we had just pulled up to my in-laws one day just in time to witness several turkeys fly up to their rooftop. They would hang out on the rooftop for a while and then fly down and waddle somewhere else.
