Alberts not a candidate for AD.

"Alberts sent an email to numerous members of his staff Wednesday morning saying that he has told the search firm involved in the Husker search that he will not compete for the job after “some prayerful consideration.”"

Dollars to donuts he was told he wasn't going to be seriously considered and this is a face saving measure.

Pay all that money to a search firm and they hire a former player? I could have done the same for that amount! Did they actually search, or were they told what to do if this is the case?

Agreed. Rumor is that his former teammate got the job, we will see.

Like who, Ed Stewart?

What if that former player is the best available candidate?

Just because they are a former player at NU, it doesn't mean that they are not fit for the job.

Stewart might be a good choice, but I would like to see them make a run at Chris Del Conte.

Del Conte and Byrne have been my dream choices.

I would not be a fan of the Stewart hire.

on both sides...I could see a "Hey we are going in a different direction, could you PLEASE put out a statement that you aren't interested so they don't burn our houses down when you don't get it?...also it looks like you weren't shot down that way" lol...and honestly I think that's smart if that's what happened.

What is Ed's bio since his playing days?

Associate AD at Mizzu in mid 2000’s when they were on the rise. Went to the B12 office and is now senior associate commissioner of football, only reports to Bowlsby.

Hope he got of of Mizzou in time to avoid the stench that surrounds that program today

GBR

Yeah, the timing is a little weird. He announces he will not be a candidate 2 weeks after the search firm starts searching? Sounds like they have their man.

If it is Ed Stewart....WELCOME COACH FROST.

Ed was involved in the Ricky Clemons fiasco and talk to a Mizzou Alum and they will tell you that was the start of thedown fall to the program. How much he was involved I do not know but do know there where phone calls to the Steweart house from the jail.

with the mery go around search, I have heard Jaime Williams is a serous contender. Check his Twitter account out and see why we need someone like him!
Playing for 2 of the greatest coaches the game has even known is a little something to pump up the resume.

If they are the best candidate, that's fine. With no direct AD experience I have a difficult time believing he would be the best candidate. Obviously I have no criteria that was/is being used in the search. All I have is my gut instinct. And if he's the one, I'll have reservations just like I had (for other reasons) when Riley was hired.
