Nebraska ranking by ESPN. WOO HOO!!!
GO BIG RED!!!
Take what you can get, baby!Unofficial "power" ranking? Not actual AP or Coaches Poll Ranking?
We did get votes in the Coaches poll, that and $5, or whatever, will get you a cup of Joe.
Glad I gave up Joe, in that case.Under current inflation, that cup of coffee is now $12...
This ain't the old days. There is no reason for Nebraska or us fans to get caught up worrying about what AP writers or coaches think of us.Power rankings are fine but we haven't earned being ranked in either the AP or coaches poll. We beat MSU on the road...maybe. I feel if we go 5-0 we then deserve to be ranked.
Agreed we do. The problem we have in once we get ranked we let it goto our heads and them promptly get our butts kicked the following week reaffirming they had no business being ranked. Hopefully they become road warriors this year. They have a tough slate of road games this year.This ain't the old days. With our schedule, we have total control over getting where we want to go.
Much as I enjoyed seeing Nebraska being ranked in any other poll, besides teams who suck the worst, I agree that lurking in the shadows may be best right now. Still it was a bit exhilarating, to see Nebraska ranked #21.If we beat Sparty we'll be ranked. But then, often times getting ranked meant we lost the next game. Rather just lurk in the shadows I think.

LOL, I don't either. Hell, I don't drink coffee anymore (haven't for several years).I dont go to starbucks
I can picture it now:
--> Currently not ranked.
--> Beat Sparty, not ranked.
--> Beat Terps, ranked.
--> Lose to Indiana, unranked.
That the usual pattern Nebraska football follows.*
* Past performance is not indicative of future results.
My first thought when I saw the title was "Roberto Clemente!" My all-time favorite baseball player. That ranking will have much more meaning in two weeks. The real season starts Saturday. We lose to MSU and all this "most talented team" talk is just that. I'm really hoping the Huskers are for real, but I won't believe it until we beat MSU and Maryland.
