2025 Media previews & predictions

By definition, "best case" is an undefeated season with a conference and national title.

By definition, "worst case" is 0-12.

So I have no idea what (the person who tweeted that) they're saying.

Every Big Ten team's best, worst case scenario in 2025: USC plays for league title? A three-loss Penn State?

Nebraska
Odds to win conference: +3500

Best Case 11-1: After nearly 15 years of hoping Nebraska is back, Nebraska is finally back. Dylan Raiola takes a huge step forward in his sophomore season, playing so well that the world begins to wonder if Patrick Mahomes should start to mimic him instead. The transfers and incoming freshmen give the Huskers one of the best receiving corps in the league, and the loss of Tony White on defense isn't felt. Nebraska's only loss comes on the road to Penn State after a 10-0 start, and the Huskers make their first trip to the Big Ten Championship since 2012. The only downside is that after the season, Dana Holgorsen leaves to take the head coaching job at Oklahoma State.

Worst Case 5-7: Nebraska is not back. It turns out the 2024 season was a bit of a fluke, as the offense struggles because Dylan Raiola spends too much time watching Jackson Mahomes on TikTok and not enough time studying game film. A lack of explosive plays on offense and defense put the Huskers in too many difficult spots, and it all ends with a home loss to Iowa on Black Friday to keep the team from going to a bowl game. Dylan Raiola enters the transfer portal immediately. Matt Rhule enters 2026 firmly on the hot seat.

I'm stuck on my prediction of 8-9 wins. Steady improvement on both lines of scrimmage and at QB. Oh and special teams

What makes win totals so hard to predict is that our seasonal grind is so much different than it was back in the TO days. Being brutally honest, we could count on 8 guaranteed wins (3 out of 4 noncon and usually 5 out of 7 con) before the season started. Nowadays, our improvement has to be measured against our opponents’ and the schedule of who we play and when we play them.

But all that said, I see a squad that will be significantly improved over last year. However it ends up, I believe we’ll look back at 2025 as the program’s return to its Blueblood status. I can’t wait.

I am on record as saying this is a 10 win minimum team in 2025. I sure hope this comment ages well.

I feel everything hinges on the Michigan game. They will be very beatable at home. Win that and we are set for a very good season. Lose and we may be not much more than bowl eligible.

I'll be interested to see what Butler and Snow will have in store for Michigan's true freshman QB. The fans will bring their A game so it will be a real baptism-under-fire for the kid.

I'm sticking with my 8 and possibly 9 wins regular season. A bowl game victory puts us at a 10 win season. I, for one, will be over the moon for a 10 win season. 'Course, I'll expect more in 2026. LOL!

I'm not disappointed per se. First of all, finishing middle of the pack beats the hell out of sucking hind teat like we have recently. Also, you have to look at the final results for every other team in the Big 10. I doubt they will all have banner seasons but it's conceivable to me that we could finish 8 or 9 wins and finish 7th overall.

Much ado about nothing, IMO. We have to see how our season plays out, as well as the other teams in the Big 10.

I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride!

GO BIG RED!!!

I may have misinterpreted something, but it looked like Steele ranked NU ahead of USC in the conference ranking, but USC ahead of NU in the national ranking. If what I observed is true, it doesn't give me much confidence in his ranking system.
It will take a while for this to straighten out, NU has got to perform this year and play like champions
